The issue with it is that it's pretty big -- that is, the ball is quite a bit larger than most bottles for mice. However, based on testing with my own mice, they seem to be able to drink from it (I marked the water level and watched it drop over a day or two). On the other hand, it 100% does not leak at all, which is cool.
Of course always make sure that your mice are able to drink before removing other sources of water.
I have had this one for a back up water supply for both my chin and my bunny for at least 6 months now and haven't had a problem with it dripping.
