Definitely. If you Xbox isn't near your wireless router, you can do as I do and use a powerline adapter (shop around, you can find good prices). I also use this to hook up a second router on the other end of the house.

And in case anyone is interested, though I'm skeptical, I use this kit with excellent results. It is pricey on Amazon now, but they go on sale periodically - I got mine on Woot for around $60. I live in a long house with wireless that couldn't reach from one end to the other (even using a parabola to extend range). I used this in my room which is farthest away to connect my Xbox 360 (thus approximating a hard-wired connection for better speed) and connected the device to a second router to serve as an access point. It has worked wonders!

I think if anything, they've improved the latency, but dont' know about the general throughput.

I use one of these powerline ethernet adapters in my house, and it works great: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-PLK300-PowerLine-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B001J2ZSL4/

Edit: What I like about that one specifically is that it has 4 ports that can be connected to your router via powerline, instead of one.
