You only have biohazard fumes because you DON'T air out your gear! I set up my gear on my drying rack after every use:

As soon as everything's on the rack I spray it with antibacterial spray:

My gloves, skates, and bag I throw in a few of these charcoal bags for good measure:

Base layers/socks/jerseys get taken in and washed after every use. Gear gets washed 2-3x a year and it's not because of smell it's just to get off dirt/sweat. My gear doesn't smell at all. I also highly recommend base layers. I know not everyone is a fan (I grew up playing in only underwear), but it really does help cut down on potential smell as dead skin stays on them vs your pads.

I wear Tesla base layers which are great because they're cheap and have nice ventilation panels on the shirts/pants

Make sure you dry out your liners after you skate. You can remove them and put them in front of a fan, or you can buy a boot dryer. Otherwise the standard treatments are soak them in vinegar solution, anti fungal sprays like cleargear, or a day or two in the freezer to kill the bacteria.

I've been using Clear Gear Sports Spray. I even use a quick spray inside my Peloton shoes after each ride.

Don't know what the deal is with everyone saying it has to stink. It's all about timing. You have a few hours after a game to hang the stuff to dry before the stank sets in.

I usually just hang everything from a tree in the backyard when I get home from a game, spray this shit on it and call it a day. Just avoid leaving it in the sun for more than one day straight so you don't get sun damage. Never leave helmets (warrior krowns will fall apart). gloves (will crack), or top-tier skates (can heat mold) in direct sunlight.

The gloves I usually put inside on a windowsill or in front of a fan for an hour.

If you don't have an outdoor area just get a cheap fan and air it out. As long as you don't let it sit without airflow it won't stink.

I play 3 times a week and never had a problem with smell. When the gloves start to smell (about 2 months), toss the shit in the washer with some oxyclean and done.
