Pimsleur has the best audio courses, but they are expensive and do not really help in understanding the structure of the language (formal vs informal speech, different verb categories, declensions, proper syntax, and all that jazz). If you are serious about learning a foreign language, you have to follow the traditional route.
There are several official and semi-official free e-books, but as they are used in primary education for the children of immigrants, they are not suitable for you.
