Cop one of these and that sweater and any future sweaters will look fresh af

u/GingerIsAConstruct · 13 pointsr/AskWomen

I have one of these. It works great.

u/accostedbyhippies · 10 pointsr/malefashionadvice

sweater shaver

Post shave fondling is optional

u/theshortflare · 9 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I use the small Conair one as well.

u/CherryCandee · 6 pointsr/Frugal

I bought this when my favorite cardigan started to look terrible. You can graduate how much you shave off your clothes which I think is awesome.

u/luxelumi · 5 pointsr/RepLadies

Thirding Ebay. I have a saved search for "Cashmere Sweater" every winter and I don't even fuss with whether it's new or used (granted you do need to be diligent in examining the pictures for condition), because sometimes a lightly used Equipment or Joseph cashmere for a cheap price is worth pulling out the defuzzer for! Seriously though, if you're a knitwear obsessed bitch or just a normal person who doesn't want to throw out expensive clothes after a year, you NEED a defuzzer. Lululemon pills? Gone. Cashmere armpit bobbles? Don't know her.

u/foxwithajetpack · 5 pointsr/CleaningTips

Are you talking about the little lint balls? If so, you’d use a sweater shaver! It’s a little, battery operated tool.

It’s called pilling. I remove it with one of these;

u/vonescher · 5 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

It's called pilling and is caused by friction, usually found under the arms and between the thighs. You can use a sweater defuzzer to remove the pills. I'd also recommend adding white vinegar to the wash as it's a natural fabric softener and can help with preventing pilling.

u/InspirationNeeded · 5 pointsr/crochet

I got a sweater shaver for these issues.

u/fifth_columnist · 4 pointsr/malefashionadvice

You can buy one of these ConAir Fabric Defuzzers . I picked one up in June and it's been fantastic. Used it on a few tshirts that were pilling pretty badly and they're almost like new again. Highly recommend.

Just be gentle with it, since it is technically a razor. You don't want to snag your hoodie on it.

I recommend laying your clothing on a flat hard surface like a dining table or desk, and then working the shaver relatively gently back and forth over the pilled areas.

Hope this helps

You MIGHT be able to get rid of some of the nubbies with a sweater shaver. It's a thing. But test a little spot first, they're meant for knitted fabric that pills. Even if it doesn't work for this, I highly recommend owning one for general sweater/ sweatshirt/ knitwear maintenance

Don't worry, Amazon's got you covered. I love that they have a category called "Lint Removal". XD

u/strangeterrain · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I use this fabric shaver, it does the job on my wool and cashmere and I don't have any complaints about it

u/nikkichi10 · 3 pointsr/crochet

My first thought was a rather sarcastic, "Try shaving." Then I realized it is No Shave November, and you might be doing that, or honestly trying to grow a beard. So then I felt bad..

My suggestion would be to get yourself a sweater shaver. http://www.amazon.com/Conair-CLS1-Battery-Operated-Fabric-Defuzzer/dp/B008I25368/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416398719&sr=8-1&keywords=sweater+shaver&pebp=1416398719716

If possible though, maybe just avoid wearing the special scarves until either you can shave, or your beard grows in more (it will get softer). Or perhaps you could make yourself a 'scarf guard' ! (I just came up with that, lame name, I know) Anyway, my idea here is to go get some cheap fleece (or whatever fabric), and basically make a little neck warmer to wear under your scarves to keep them from getting all scruffed.

u/stitchwitchspokane · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

As a cat-mom to five, satin. Good luck finding a way to wear it well (I have not yet) but it really does work. I buy all my bedsheets and comforters in satin only because cat hair doesn't stick to my bed that way.

Also, for repairing things that you would think are ruined by cat hair being embedded into the fabric a fabric shaver is excellent. They can be used on furniture too. If you have a lot of delicate things, maybe a manual one instead of electric. I knit and I use this one for both my more delicate handknits and my normal, storebought clothes, it works really great. I don't even buy sticky lint rollers anymore because the non-shaving end of the Gleener picks up hair just as well.

u/ShadowDrgn · 3 pointsr/Dakimakuras

Looks like normal wear and tear that can be caused by things like fingernails/toenails snagging the material or rubbing against other surfaces like your skin, hair, or sheets. You can get a fabric shaver to smooth out the picks and reduce fuzz, but it won't magically restore the fabric to its original, undamaged state.

These things are great for all sorts of things.

u/nooby-2 · 3 pointsr/Dakimakuras

/u/freepantsu, Chillax mate, no need for that language.

Anyways, it seems you've run into a bootlegger as there aren't any suppliers that use Peach Skin nowadays. I'd highly suggest staying away from them. Most materials used by the legit printers don't actually have piling happen that quickly, maybe after months of use depending on how rough you are with it but a solution would be to use one of these with caution.

Also, to expand on what freepantsu has said regarding A&J's fabric. They have the best image quality / color reproduction and texture but are somewhat lacking in durability as a trade off.

u/philden1327 · 2 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Could be lint from another clothing that you washed it with. You could use something like this to remove it.

u/GobstopperMan · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I've actually had some success using just an electric razor on hoodies and things I don't care too much about. When I'm home, I'll use my parents remover on my nicer sweaters. They got it off amazon. 99% sure it is this one...

u/Melloncollieocr · 2 pointsr/howto

I have one of these, this one is pretty cheap and has good reviews, works really well, and takes a little time to make it perfect

u/almar7 · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

If you're in the market for a fabric shaver check out this one, it works great!

u/42_3581N_71_0636W · 2 pointsr/Outlier

I used this one from Conair. Works well for my merino tees too.

u/bamgrinus · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Not a lot you can do for the stretching, but best way to treat pilling is to use a fabric shaver. Getting it dry cleaned probably wouldn't hurt either.

u/the_anus_restaurant · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

You could also try this one: http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Battery-Operated-Fabric-Defuzzer/dp/B008I25368/

I have it and love it. And since it is actually slicing the pills off, the rest of the surrounding fibers don't get pulled around.

u/SAL16 · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I have this one that I really like, but it's cheap and has its flaws (needs to be emptied almost constantly). Definitely look into it!

u/lyan-cat · 1 pointr/internetparents

Try taking it in to a local sewing shop like JoAnn Fabrics for advice, or check YouTube for tutorials. There was a sweater "de-piller" to get rid of those little balls that sweaters develop over time, and there might be a handy little gadget for your damaged sweater. Something like this. http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Battery-Operated-Fabric-Defuzzer/dp/B008I25368

(DO NOT take a brush to your sweater. Especially not a wire brush. That's something you will regret.)

u/sanyork · 1 pointr/streetwear

Get a lint shaver, I got this one, it works great

u/justtiptoeingthru2 · 1 pointr/mildlyinfuriating

Cat hair tape rollers, clear packing tape or a lint shaver will help in removing that... unfortunate calamity.

u/Juliestei · 1 pointr/poshmark

I've also used it on non sweater slightly pilled brushed cotton. With care does a bang up job. This is what I purchased and have been happy with, 3 level adjustments.

I have this fabric defuzzer on my list, which replaces my last one which broke.
They're amazing. You know all those little annoying fuzzies that you can never seem to pick off?, this shaves them right off and your sweaters always look brand new. :)

u/TheToolMan · 1 pointr/hometheater

Good to know. Thank you

Side note: you might try a fabric shaver to deal with the pilling.

u/littleornithopter · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Aww! :( must've been a crap motor! I'm pretty happy with my Conair one ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I25368/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_228sub0ARKPYC). It's gotten through 2 sweaters, 3 dresses, and a peacoat all done in a row so far, and you can change how close you shave to the fabric (nothing fancy, just 3 settings). I'll probably have to replace it by the end of the winter since the blades will probably dull from cleaning coats. Hopefully the motor lasts.

u/kv4268 · 1 pointr/GoodValue

This one is the one I have and it's also the one I've seen most recommended online. Works like a charm and has saved a lot of my clothes.

u/JohannesVanDerWhales · 0 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Buy one of these, something is seriously wrong if you're having to replace sweaters every year. A good sweater will last decades.
