Have you thought about condensing some of the games by getting rid of the boxes? A lot of games have a lot of extra space in the boxes and can fit multiple games. On a trip I fit, Catan, Carcassonne, Jaipur, and I forget what other games, but quite a few into the Forbidden Desert case without the insert, plus I have a craft organizer that I have multiple games in. Currently it has
Splendor
Carcassone
Jaipur
Cockroach Poker
Cat Tower
Codenames
Hey That's my Fish
Hive Pocket
Batman Love Letter
And Space Hulk Death Angel
I have also seen other people use a couple different plastic cases such as these, Crafts Bin 1
Crafts Bin 2
Crafts Bin 3
Crafts Bin 4
It would be harder to bring any games with a full size board, but you could definitely condense any ga,es that have no board, or boards that are smaller.
I bought one of these at Michaels: http://amzn.com/B00CBGKNQ2
Looks like there are also manly tackle box options at Amazon. I like that the top can be used to store the portal base (you do have to take it apart).
I have room for all the level packs, a few team packs, and enough fun packs to unlock everything. The figures do have to double-up in their compartments to make it work, but it's nice to be able to put everything up and store it in the closet when I'm not playing.
Individually they're very light. The dental stone feels lighter than plaster of paris, but that's my perception rather than any measurements that I've taken.
I bought this to organize all the detail pieces and then place the basic tiles in the larger portion on top. I don't think I'd have a lot of trouble carrying it around.

It actually fits all of my makeup so it was worth the extra space I have now.
I have this for my notions. I love that the little drawers slip out and I can use the tools without searching for them. On the go, I put a little plastic pencil box in with my project that has the stuff I'll likely need if I'm not home to use my organizer.
