I am currently running the ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS on the newest BIOS revision.

I paid 604.48 Canadian Dollars including taxes and shipping for an R7 1700 and this motherboard.

I was able to hit 3.8 Ghz very easily and I am still tweaking the overclocking but, I think I will be able to reach 3.95 Ghz stable at 1.35 Volts.

For RAM I am running two of the following kits at 2133 Mhz:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MMLUYQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Overall I am very pleased with the board though the UEFI user interface could use some big improvements.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

4 years is long. But so far, for everything price/performance the i5 is the better pick. It does not even have to be the 6600, a i5-6500 is a good choice as well.

Locked i5 however means that you should buy DDR4-2133 ram, as the mainboard without OC support also do not support faster ram.

I assume if you have a psu and HDD you already have a case?

Take this as a starting point:

pc-kombo shared list

Type|Item|Price
----|:----|:----
CPU | Intel Core i5-6500 | EUR 199,90 @ Caseking
Motherboard | GIGABYTE B150M-DS3H | EUR 77,88 @ Amazon.de
Memory | Crucial CT2K8G4DFD8213 (16 GB) | EUR 57,37 @ Amazon.de
Video Card | Radeon R9 Fury | EUR 423,00 @ Mindfactory
| Total | €770.13
| Generated by pc-kombo 01.06.2016 |

The Fury is a placeholder for an aftermarket GTX 1070. You said you do not want AMD but are looking at the RX 480, so I will say that: The new Polaris card will have to beat Nvidia at price/performance, and 199$ for a 480 sounds like it will be a good deal. I'd wait for those cards before deciding.

theres this 16gb 2x8 by crucial for $94 with free shipping

u/xavierfox42 · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Also on Amazon for the same price (with Prime shipping): http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00MMLUYQK

  • DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000)
  • Cas Latency 15
  • Voltage 1.2V

I see this [ram] (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MMLUYQK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1) on amazon and it is significantly cheaper than any other 2x8gb modules. I'm a little skeptical as to why... as far as I can tell the difference is the speed (which is negligible?) and the looks. Any thoughts?

Yup your right.

Without knowing your CPU/memory and or financial budget it is hard to say. But you probably want something off this list.

Personally I would just sell the whole HP desktop on Ebay as some old person will probably buy it for a couple three hundred. Then you can just add that money to the ~$100 you would have spend on a mobo. So you are at about $300-400...add a couple cnotes and you should be able to build a decent rig around that 1050.

| part | price |
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|------|
| mobo | $50 |
| cpu | $120 |
| ram | $85 |
| disk | $140 |
| ps | $40 |
| case | $40 |
| Total | $475 |

or go get a pcmasterrace build kabylake builds (I think the mobo prices are still too high)

without ref link

Next price about 125€

Yeah I got a pricedrop alert for crucial 2x8 DDR4 today too. Lowest it's ever been on Amazon at ~$165. I bought the same Ram for 40 bucks more 6 months ago.

I'd love to have another pair for rendering but I'll probably wait at least a little bit longer until it drops to ~$120.

Are you aware of these crucial's? Not really a sale just great every day price.

Would this be fine (basic Crucial DDR modules)?

u/AnAsianGuy310 · 1 pointr/overclocking

Thank you for the recommendation; I'll download x264 and Real Bench to test it out. My ram is just two months old though, you think that is the issue? Before I upgraded from my 6500 everything was fine. My current ram is.

Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) CL15 DR x8 Non-ECC UDIMM 288-Pin Memory CT2K8G4DFD8213/CT2C8G4DFD8213 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MMLUYQK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_FoG7wb351EYP2

It does not have XMP profiles, and my Dram is untouched at Auto(1.200V) I only get freezes when I open a game, this is very strange.

u/tdring16 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I mean just ram that should last longer

this is the ram I used in my most recent build which was about a week ago

http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC4-17000-Non-ECC-CT2K8G4DFD8213-CT2C8G4DFD8213/dp/B00MMLUYQK?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01

that ram will last you for the foreseeable future

u/bloodvaults · 1 pointr/buildapc

So if I bought this...

Motherboard: https://www.amazon.com/Ryzen-Gaming-Motherboard-Prime-B450-Plus/dp/B07FKT5CTH

CPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113496

RAM: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC4-17000-Unbuffered-288-Pin-Memory/dp/B00MMLUYQK

Would all of that be good, and would that be compatible with what I have currently? Also, two more questions, would I need a more powerful PSU if I got this stuff, and how many SATA ports does this new motherboard have? I don't see it listed anywhere.

u/SavageAlien · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Since you're looking at the Crucial on Amazon, did you see that the 16GB (8GBx2) is $94? Maybe you'll be happy with 8GB, but this seems like a decent compromise in terms of $ and GB.

u/CrayAB · 1 pointr/buildapc

Using this right now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMLUYQK

Not sure if that's on the slower side? Also aren't the 6600K and the 9600K both an LGA1151 chipset?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HHLX1R8/

Unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

u/OxygenOS · 1 pointr/buildapc

How about This Ram? Is it slower, or does it simply not look as good?
