if you don't mind used parts, you can get a massive upgrade with $250.

EDIT: there were some problems on the dell mobo i had linked with form factor, front panel connections and different fan pinouts. i've rewritten the post with some new parts

this $38 mATX intel board+cooler has a 4 pin cpu fan header, a 2 pin system fan header should work with 3 or 4 pin fan connectors, but when in doubt use a molex adapter. front panel pins look normal to me. it's mATX spec. if your 6GB RAM is 3x2GB, you'll lose one stick

$40 intel i5 3rd gen cpu - performs almost as well as the cheapest 8th gen i3, which is still very good and beats your phenom into the ground

$6 thermal compound

$126 dual fan rx 580 8gb

with $40 to spare, that could go toward a new PSU (i'd start worrying a little about yours at this point). a new $33 SeaSonic S12III is a decent choice

alternatively, you could go toward a new $33 240GB SSD which is cheap but still much faster than an HDD. you'll probably want to mount this in your case if yours doesn't have its own mounting brackets

Scam, one verified review, terrible English translation. 240gb SanDisks aren't even that much more than this shoddy garbage being astroturfed here.

Edit: a fucking crucial 240gb is a penny cheaper jfc

$40 not super expensive anymore.

Use your current drive for storage afterward.

Ok I've ordered an ssd, found this to be a pretty good model and I might even dual with my current hdd. Linking here for anyone in my situation; only 30 dollars https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G3KRZBX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Good luck y'all thanks for help this seems like the only resolution sadly

u/ManInTheIronPailMask · 3 pointsr/PS3

Sure! Here's a non-affiliate, non-monetized link. Just remember to back up your system to a FAT32-formatted USB drive (I used a thumb drive) and also download the PS3 OS software from Sony and save it on the same drive. With those things done, it's super easy!

I'm so glad I did. Lip sync is now always on time, and there's no stuttering in games that formerly were problematic.

One Amazon response to my question said, "Don't bother; the PS3's data rate limit makes a hard drive upgrade useless." Do not believe it. It's very much better now (even though I know that before, I was dealing with a fragmented/damaged hard drive after the crash.)

Good luck!

I got that one. Also on a 2011 MBP and did the upgrade around christmas. Never opened a computer up before it was pretty straightforward after watching a few Youtube videos and following the iFixit guide.

It is amazing how different the machine feels, it's as if it is new. I'm still on the RAM I got with it (4GB), I was thinking I'd replace it if the SSD didn't do much but it's turned it in to a beast and the RAM isn't needed.

Consider a 240GB SSD for your budget:

https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX500-240GB-2-5-Inch-Internal/dp/B07G3KRZBX/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=250gb+ssd&qid=1573311440&sr=8-7

I'd say for this price sigment capacity would be more important than the speed increase of pcie.

u/CaptainCab21 · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

That is pretty tight budget provided you want decent ram, power supply and motherboard.

But This it what i found

EVGA 500 watt 80+ white Power Supply £38.81 .

https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-WHITE-Power-Supply-100-W1-0500-K3/dp/B01E4YRP8W/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=power+supply&qid=1573085737&sr=8-15 not the best psu but will work fine for your parts and budget.

Gigabyte B450M DS3H Motherboard £63.11 .

https://www.amazon.co.uk/GIGABYTE-B450M-DS3H-S-ATA-Socket/dp/B07FKNM8FQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=676TTNTCMXBC&keywords=am4+motherboard&qid=1573085905&sprefix=am4++%2Caps%2C246&sr=8-1

AeroCool ATX Case £37.99.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aerocool-Mid-Tower-Tempered-Lighting-Included/dp/B07HWF3QY2/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=atx+case&qid=1573086472&sr=8-8

Crucial BX500 240gb SSD £29.50.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT240BX500SSD1Z-Internal-Solid-State/dp/B07G3KRZBX/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=bx500&qid=1573086566&sr=8-1

Corsair DDR4 2400mhz 2x8gb Ram £53.99.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2A2400C16-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B017NW5NZY/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=corsair+ram&qid=1573086613&sr=8-15

Total Price is £223.4‬. The best i could go without going to cheap.

If you were able to spend like £300 you could get better parts and would probably be happier with the final result.

u/IsABot · 2 pointsr/buildapc

They are decent known budget brand.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/13606/adata-ultimate-su630-ssd-3d-qlc-for-sata

https://www.anandtech.com/show/11085/the-adata-ultimate-su800-ssd-review-128gb-256gb-512gb

Here is an older one from 2016: https://www.anandtech.com/show/10131/the-adata-premier-sp550-ssd-review

If you don't want to go with them, then here is a Crucial one for $1 more. That's a company I'm fairly certain you will recognize. I just tried to keep it down in price by picking a cheaper known brand. Since budget seems to be very tight.

The HD was picked due to being an enterprise drive, 128MB cache, 7200rpm, 4TB and pretty affordable. It also didn't seem like a renewed drive like lots of the other options. If you could spend more, then you'd have more options but having a hard requirement of good performance and reliability, 4TB minimum and under $100 is tough.

My normal recommendation for a 4TB would have been a WD Black drive, but those are out of your budget at $177. Esp. if you wanted to run with no SSD boot drive.

u/TheMadOneOfSB · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace
Yeah, you can grab one with a i5 for around 165 from Amazon(with their return policy if you get a dud)

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-OptiPlex-7010-Minitower-Desktop/dp/B01K0GNUOG/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvp?keywords=desktop&pd_rd_i=B01K0GNUOG&pd_rd_r=85a0fa40-746d-4c1c-9c46-39fb27945591&pd_rd_w=n1kO7&pd_rd_wg=UJz63&pf_rd_p=a6d018ad-f20b-46c9-8920-433972c7d9b7&pf_rd_r=6H74399BS6RZ37QGP3WN&qid=1568715571&refinements=p_36%3A6000-16000&rnid=2421879011&s=pc

Note this is the "Mini tower" version, I'm unsure if the SFF versions can physically fit a graphics card without contortions.

You can then get a PCIe power only 1650 for 160(better card than the 1050ti I'd originally recommended, I didn't realize they were this cheap)

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-128-Bit-Support-Graphics/dp/B07QR2YFTX/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=1050+ti&qid=1568715841&s=electronics&sr=1-11

And a 240GB boot SSD for 32.

https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX500-240GB-2-5-Inch-Internal/dp/B07G3KRZBX/ref=sxin_2_ac_d_pm?ac_md=2-0-VW5kZXIgJDUw-ac_d_pm&keywords=ssd&pd_rd_i=B07G3KRZBX&pd_rd_r=51848549-d7c7-4c54-bb31-f0dd303465eb&pd_rd_w=Sr2TS&pd_rd_wg=4hAhR&pf_rd_p=eeff02d5-070a-45ea-a79e-d591974b877e&pf_rd_r=NEP4PME17QCX3B19K43A&psc=1&qid=1568716032

So 357 for everything. Now, this is all straight from Amazon itself. I'm sure a bit of ebay could knock a significant chunk off, especially the tower. You could also thrift/craigslist and grab something for less.

For about 100 more you could build a decent modern system with a clear upgrade path.

I'm on Xbox, but I recently got these to use as an external drive:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G3KRZBX

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HJZJI84/

With all the fast-travelling I do in the game, it's insane how much time I am saving now. After logging into the game (which is also much faster), loading anything rarely takes longer than a few seconds. It was definitely worth the $40.

Having a smaller external SSD works fine for me since I can easily just move games I'm actively playing onto the SSD and then back onto the internal drive when needed. I only have 3-4 games with annoying load times anyway and they all fit on the SSD currently.

Building my first new PC, swapped my SSD from an American hard to get version (in U.K.) to this

But after some brief research looks like I have to get this to get it working?

Is this right? And if yes can I get the cheapest size since my first linked product is 1000GB

u/x-philes · 1 pointr/totalwar

It's not worth trying to upgrade that PC. If you are okay buying used components, with a budget of only $200, I'd go with something like this, this and this. The only other things you'd need would be a keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers. At 1600x900, the 1050ti should have no problem with TWWII at medium settings and 30ish fps, and it might actually perform better than that.

Get yourself a cheap 240GB SSD and external enclosure. Put the existing PS4 hard drive in the enclosure and use it as extended storage for all your games. This will fix the interface lag and your game load speeds will be the same.

I run a computer repair service. That being said, I feel like I can give you a fair quote on this.

I would charge $45 flat for the 240GB SSD.

It costs $29 for a quality laptop SSD that is 240 GB. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX500-240GB-2-5-Inch-Internal/dp/B07G3KRZBX/

The other $16 is for replacing the SSD.

I would charge $125 flat for the 1TB SSD.

It costs $107 for a quality laptop SSD that is 1 TB. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B077SF8KMG

The other $18 is for replacing the SSD.

-------

I don't believe in ripping people off, like the person who quoted you. The cost for labor is really just so I can keep my business running and have an income.

I know money can be tough as a student. If you would like to replace it yourself feel free to ask me any questions.

A 240 GB SSD is much cheaper than a new laptop.

u/ConteDraculo · 1 pointr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

not even 30$?

u/shroudedwolf51 · 0 pointsr/techsupport

Considering how you can buy a 240GB SSD for only $30, $35, or $35, no it isn't. In fact, I know I've seen them go even cheaper, but that would require more than about a minute's worth of effort to search.

And, even then, you can just delete the data that's taking up the space.

Edit: And, those prices scale down pretty well as you increase capacity. My 1TB SSD with far more reliable speeds and nearly double the warranty was $115. And, prices have really come down, too. My previous SSD, I paid 2.5x for it and it had 1/4th the capacity. Sure, it's not quite the same GB per dollar ratio as my $205 8TB spinning rust drive, but SSDs are certainly affordable. Even in budget builds.
