Wow, some people here are giving you bad advice.

Yeah, pizza might not be the most awesome choice of meal, but hell, it won't kill you to eat a couple of slices now and then. You're pregnant, you crave weird/unhealthy food - this is the way it works! DO try to eat healthy meals as often as you can, but morning sickness is hard enough without constantly worrying about gaining weight with every bite you eat.

OK: now for advice you actually asked for ... I was the EXACT same way in both my pregnancies! I was constantly nauseous for seven out of the nine months, and only savoury foods every 10 minutes would kill the puking sensation.

However, I only gained 15 lbs my first time and 9 lbs the second time - mostly due to great genes... but also in part due to the following strategy: I found a few awesome savoury foods with near-zero calories and ate THEM most of the time instead of pizza and fries and potato chips.

  • Sliced fruit (apple, pineapple, pear, watermelon, or even cucumber) sprinkled with salt and/or chaat masala

  • Home-made salt-and-herb croutons with little or no oil

  • This awesome spicy-sour-savory "candy" which I'm still quite addicted to even after the baby was born a month ago. It's zero calories, and it has only all-natural ingredients, and as an awesome added bonus, it even kills heartburn! :) I'd eat 10 or 12 of these chewie tablets a day, and it was the most reliable killer of nausea I had. Check out your local South Asian grocery store, it will probably have it foe $2 or so - Amazon is expensive.

Again - these suggestions are only IF you want to try them, and you should absolutely go ahead and eat that pizza when you're craving it and/or need it for the nausea. Please don't sweat the weight gain issue. Reddit is terribly fat-phobic (not even fat, people here are hateful towards any woman larger than a size 4), this is not who you should be listening to in these matters. As long as your doctor isn't concerned about your weight gain, you should not be!
