I'd suggest the $999 XPS 13 model. It is very thin and light, has a dual-core i5, and overall is very premium in terms of build quality.
If you must have a convertible, the XPS 12 or Surface Pro 3 would both be great options.
If you don't mind a slightly-heavier-than-the-rest convertible, the Dell XPS 12 is also a nice choice. Wonderful sturdy chassis, great trackpad, and $799 will get you roughly the same specs as a $1099 Surface Pro 3 sans the pen. Only downside is the heavier, fatter profile for using the XPS 12 as a slate. But then again, one-handing the Surface Pro 3 isn't overly comfortable either, so it may be a moot point.
