You're very welcome, glad to help. :)
I just looked at your work, and it's really colorful and pretty! You've already got really vibrant colors and a good eye for putting them together.
Unfortunately, I mostly color people, so my polychromos list won't do you much good — the 60 pack plus lots of hair and skin tones and colors I just happen to like. But, I think you'll really like them. they have great color payoff and all seem to stay where I want them. This is the first time I've ordered from dickblick, but I will definitely use them again — their colors seem accurate unlike my local craft store who had a different version that still claimed to be polychromos.
I would have gotten the bigger set, but I had already gotten the Koh-i-noor because I thought they were a more budget-friendly oil pencil, but they're actually just wax dipped in oil. I don't dislike them, but I would definitely recommend a full set of polychromos instead.
Also, when I was at Hobby Lobby, I got 20 for oil pastels from Faber-Castell that were $9 and like $5 with the 40% off coupon. They have lots of color payoff and help to give more underneath pencils. I've got a submission that's all FC oil pastels, except for the FC polychromos pencil for the hair and eyes and the Arteza gel pen for her glittery crown. Edit: here
I've gotten far too many sets of cheap gel pens, got a few gelly rolls and then tried the Arteza and was really pleasantly surprised — honestly, would probably believe they were fine tip gelly rolls.
Oh, and if you try gamsol, I fill these with gamsol instead of water for more control - Derwent Waterbrush, 3 Pack.
Hope you find something you like! :)
If you mean the kind that have color in them already, I have Tombows (probably around 25 of them) and a set of Arteza ones I got on Amazon that I think has 20 colors. I pick the Tombows up at Michaels or Blicks when they go on sale so I’m slowly building my palette.
For water pens to use with my watercolors and watercolor pencils, I have six, two sets of the same 3 pack from Derwent: Amazon Link It has a chisel tip, large tip, and fine tip.
