The younger kids though *are* capable of deeper intellectual stimulation than you're giving them credit for. Make it a special challenge to engage them in conversations about music. Of course you'll have to find out what their level of understanding is first but I would think that would be an enjoyable challenge. Try it.
I'm urging all those who teach to read this book on human development (Development Through Life) by Barbara and Phillip Newman-I'm plowing through it right now-it has tons of insights into how developing youngsters grow and develop.
