¥2,800 without tax to be exact. ¥3,024 with tax.

>Special CDs that offer in-game rewards are always kinda pricy.

What /u/BearyTrashy said here isn't quite accurate since the ¥3,024 version is just the normal version (通常盤). The in-game bonuses are clearly stated as first press bonuses on the page. Permanent physical bonuses are usually factored into the price but this should not be confused with early purchase or first press bonuses.

~¥3,024 is pretty standard for a normal album with 10+ tracks (with or without any sort of bonus). In this case, it's actually rather godsend since you are getting 18 tracks, DAOKO's last album only came with 10 tracks with the same price tag. Even for digital, the standard price is ¥250 per track in Japan.

Think music is expensive in your country? Think again, welcome to Japan.

>I understand that I mean no one else buys cd's these days.

Japan is the number 1 in the world in terms of physical music sales. There are a number of reasons, here's a couple:

  • Collection purposes: Japanese likes to collect in general anyway. But sometimes you also get special cover/artwork edition if it's an anime soundtrack (for example: regular vs anime) . Sometimes you also get CD only tracks etc.

  • Lottery: Have a "chance" at winning meet & greet, handshake, signing, or photo shoot tickets with the artists from the first press edition CDs. Heard of groups like AKB48? You have a "chance" of getting a voting ticket when buying a first press CD so you can vote for your favorite member to be in the spotlight/cover for the next release etc.

I can rant on and on about CD/DVD/Blu-ray sales tactics in Japan. There are a lot more I haven't gone into.
