I know little about Balkan music, but I enjoy playing the songs I learned from "Eastern European Folk Tunes" [1] and my 72-bass piano accordion seems fine for them. I don't use the diminished row very often.
I'm not sure if these songs are what people mean by Balkan music? When I look on YouTube, the music people are playing seems to be different and much more challenging. So, I'm curious, what you are listening to that you like?
