An AV receiver and a pair of bookshelf speakers, start with 2 speakers and you can add more later for surround sound.

Or a low budget non expandable option: Edifier R1280DB $130.

Sure. For powered ~$200 CAD any of these would work well.....

Fluance Ai40

Edifier R1700BT

Micca PB42X

Dayton MK402BT

Edifier R1850DB - slightly over budget but worth it

Edifier R1280DB

This should give you several options at many price points. All will have pluses and minuses. The Fluance Ai40's are "probably" (the R1850DB's are also very nice) the best of the group but do lack optical inputs so depending on what your TV has for outputs you may need a cheap DAC too.

I assume you are looking for powered ones. If so, I would get ELAC or Edifier. They are mostly good at that price range. I would get ones with BT capabilities like Edifier R1280BD for 130 USD.

If you don't necessarily need to mount the speakers and just need to give them some height, yoga blocks of all things work very well. I use them on my desk.

As for speakers, again if they don't need to be mounted, I have a pair of Edifier R1280DBs which are about as cost effective as it gets if you're just pumping retro consoles through them.

But those speakers you already have there... Badass.

Does anyone have experience with the Edifier R1280DB? I am hoping someone could tell me how well it compares to the Micca setup mentioned above.

One of the main things is that I need speakers with a remote control to turn them on/off and adjust volume. These will be plugged in to my TV (either optical or aux) and the aux output from the TV is not adjustable, hence the speakers themselves need to be adjustable via remote.

Edit: I am also looking at the Samsung HW-R450 Sound Bar and am wondering which one to choose, or if there are other good speakers within this same price range (Under $200) that I should be considering.

That's a pretty tight budget, but if you can stretch an extra $30, my top choice would be a pair of Edifier R1280DB's. If you want a step up in quality, I would recommend the Audioengine A2+.

You can also go the passive route and get something like the Dayton DTA-2.1BT2 amp and a pair of budget passive speakers like the Micca RB42's. That amp will also give you the ability to add a subwoofer later if you want.

The folks over at r/BudgetAudiophile can probably give you even more options.

Since you don't have much room for speakers and you're not even sure where to put the subwoofer, you could get standard 2.0 bookshelf speakers like the Edifier R1280DB or Edifier R1280T (5.75in x 9.5in x 7in per speaker) if you don't care about the optical input, or the Logitech Z333 (Blutooth variant) if you prefer something similar to what you had before.

I have a Gemini PT-2000 that's hooked up to a Pyle Audio PP999 phono preamp, which is directly hooked to Edifer bookshelf speakers. Currently I have no option for headphones. Does anyone know how I could hookup my headphones to my setup?

Did they get the pages mixed up or am I missing something. Looks like two pages for the R1280DB.

Edit: Nevermind it's just the colour. These ones are Black
