I spent way too much time on this, but let's see how your claim plays out.

2. Akai MPK249 $400
2. Yamaha P71 $415
3. 21.5 inch iMac $1100 (although this is the base model, probably a good estimate)
3. Edifier R1280T Near Field Monitors $99
5. Asus 24" monitor $130x5=$650
4. Logitech G27 I'm going to say around $300, even though Amazon has it listed for nearly $1000. Seems like the MSRP a few years ago was $300-$400.

  1. Logitech G Saitek X52 Flight Control System $150
  2. Logitech C600 $30
  3. Opolar F401 $12
  4. Logitech G610 $90, although some versions on amazon are closer to $60
  5. (I couldn't figure out what the other keyboard is, but it's probably junk that the OP didn't spend a lot of money on.)
  6. Logitech Z623 $100 (I think these are right)
  7. HTC Vive $500
  8. Logitech Z-2300 $180 MSRP, I'm fairly certain that I'm wrong about this one though
  9. Wireless Xbox Controller $42

Add in like $1000 for each desk and $2000 for each computer we don't see (assuming there are two), that gets us to a total of $11,068.

There is a laptop bag stashed on the left side of the frame, so maybe it's a $9000 laptop.
u/cheapdrinks · 33 pointsr/assholedesign

Just going off prices here in Australia. The Logitech's are $129 for the set while those Edifiers are also exactly $129AUD for the set so I think it's a fair comparison.

The Edifers will get down to 75hz while that big clunkly logitech sub will only get a bit further down to 55hz. It also doesn't say where it starts rolling off, pretty sure the Edifiers are -3db at 75hz while the logitechs could be -6db or -10db and still claim it as part of their FR, and given how up front they are about the fake tweeter i'm almost certain that it's not flat down to 55.
I also guarantee you that the bass from that sub will sound like ass, it will be super muddy and boomy because the sub will be filling in for a large section of low end for those satellites. The sub only has an RMS of 24 watts or something so it's going to be distorting like crazy at any loud listening levels.

Your choice is then some nicely designed wooden Edifiers with wireless remote, an additional aux input and a silk dome tweeter that will actually sound good, or an ugly set of black plastic Logitech's with a corded volume knob and big space sucking sub that might make your desk vibrate a bit but will sound awful. For an extra $20 you can get the Edifiers with bluetooth as well.

u/polypeptide147 · 18 pointsr/buildapcsales

Friendly reminder to skip those speakers. Logitech doesn't make good speakers.

Something like this pair of Edifiers would make you much happier.

u/Smirf311 · 11 pointsr/buildapc

If your budget is $100 then I believe you can do better than the Razer speakers. I would suggest either these Edefier or Logitech speakers. Unless he is only looking for aesthetics, these speakers will sound so much better. I would suggest the Logitech ones as the best though, they even come with a subwoofer.

Do NOT buy a second Z333 set. The Z333 is only 2 x 8 watts plus a sub. It does not even have a tweeter, its "decorative". A second Logitech set won't give better sound, it just gives louder mediocrity. IMHO you should start with a good set monitors and then add a subwoofer later. You'll hear details you've been missing. In the short term you might sacrifice some boomy bass but you would have much better sound overall.

I currently own 3 sets of desk "monitors". The quotes are there because these are not truly flat response studio monitors. They are aimed at consumers.

  • Backup Computer: Mackie CR4 4" Consumer Refrence Montiors, Amazon Link
  • Main Computer: Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers, Amazon Link. This one is paired with a 10" sub.
  • Kitchen TV: PreSonus Eris E4.5 + 10" sub. These are the flattest monitors I own. They were purchased as "B-Stock" at about $130 a pair. They are quite nice but out of budget if purchased new.

So the above are the only ones with which I have personal experience. To me, the Mackie and Edifier are more or less interchangeable.

The cheapest speakers r/audiophile will recommend are the Micca PB42X. Google shows that Micca has quite a following. There a lot of YouTube video reviews of them too.

My apologies for all the US merchant links. It's all I know.

Edit - more advice from r/HTBuyingGuides . Scroll down to the Audio/Speaker section of this FAQ.
u/AutomatedLogic · 7 pointsr/FrankOcean

To be brief, the pressure from the needle is too heavy. So basically it is slowing (but also quickly) grinding out the grooves. This is a $300+ record. Take care of it!
I recommend getting this turntable and these speakers for a starting set up.

I realize it is expensive, but worth it.

u/league_of_fail · 6 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

Here you go.

They're powered. They're also on the sidebar bookshelf speakers recommendation list at your price point. I own them and am very happy with them.

u/nymets12985 · 6 pointsr/VinylDeals

You could always just get a headphone amp and separate powered speakers. In order to not break the bank but still have quality products, I recommend:

Headphone Amp

Powered speakers

Have owned both and can say you’ll be happy, especially for the price point.

u/sharkamino · 6 pointsr/audio

No. It's not a subwoofer, it's a woofer like you would find in 6.5" bookshelf speakers. The small speakers don't have a woofer, only a tweeter and midrange driver to keep them small and they put the woofer in a separate box.

If you are worried about it put it on your desk or get powered 2.0 bookshelf speakers like the Edifier R980T or Edifier R1280T.

Or a mini amp and passive bookshelf speakers.

$53 Bundle 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair and Hi-Fi Mini Amplifier Bundle

Amps: Kinter K2020A+ Limited Edition ORIGINAL Tripath TA2020-020 $33 or Nobsound Mini 50W x 2 Bluetooth Amplifier $31.

Speakers: Polk Audio T15 $50 or Dayton Audio B652-AIR with AMT Tweeter $50.

Speaker wire and wire stripper.

u/BTsBaboonFarm · 6 pointsr/vinyl

$300 - $500 can get you a great new setup if you piece it together correctly. On the lower end, here's one I'd recommend

Turntable: U-Turn Orbit Basic: $179

Phono Preamplifier: ART Pro Audio DJPRE II: $49

Speakers: Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers: $100

By going with active/powered speakers, you can forego getting an AV Receiver for amplification needed for passive speakers (you could also look at receivers with built in phono stages and passive speakers if you want to spend a bit more).

This would cost about $330, not including any additional/longer cables or any other accessories. It isn't a top of the line rig, but it would be a pretty big upgrade from what you have now

You could also go the vintage route and probably get an even better setup, but you'll need to know a bit more on what to look for in terms of conditions and brands and whatnot

u/brianf408 · 5 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

First step: have you read noaudiophile's reviews? He does very thorough reviews on a lot of budget speakers, and has corrections for many of the popular options. His corrections for the Infinity P163s that I'm currently using made them sound like completely different speakers.

First let's start with powered options:

The Micca PB42X would be a good option. They are basically a powered version of the MB42X so you don't need to purchase a separate amp. Also in the similar realm that get recommended here a lot would be the Swans D1010 and the Edifier R1280T.

Personally I'm a bigger fan of passive speakers, as you get a lot more options to expand your system.

Pioneer BS22 bookshelf speakers are great and have gone on sale quite a bit lately for $70-80/pair.

Dayton B652 I am currently using as my surround speakers, but people rave about them as a budget desktop option

Micca MB42X also get great reviews.

You could also go used for your speakers, but sometimes it can be hard to parse through all the junk out there if you don't know what you're looking for.

Take any of those passive options and pair them up with an inexpensive amp like this SMSL or Lepai for a good budget setup.

I would also recommend checking your local Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for a used receiver, you could pick up a very decent one for just a few bucks and have a great starting setup. This will give you a lot more powerful amp, and the ability later to easily add a subwoofer or expand to surround sound. Personally I'm using an older Sony home theater receiver at my desk, it's old enough that it doesn't have HDMI or optical inputs, someone was just giving it away so I snagged it.

They're not even much of that anymore. about 1997-2007 marks kind of the decade where they did that. After that, they became mostly a marketing company that knows where to blow the right amount of hot air to get people to buy their (increasingly poorly-designed) products.

The iMac, iPod, and iPhone were all killer products that really were game changers and were much better than competing products at the time, but a lot of their recent stuff is kinda crap. A lot of it is simultaneously over- and under- engineered.

Take their MacBook Pro as an example. It certainly does take some skill at engineering to fit all of what is in there into something so small. But at the same time, any decent designer or engineer should have, at a certain point in the process, thrown up the stop sign and said:

> Woah! I know we're thin-obsessed right now, but what are we doing? This thing doesn't have adequate cooling for the CPUs we want to put in it, so people who pay to upgrade won't really be getting great performance boosts. We've eliminated all of the ports that people are used to and which they have peripherals for, and we haven't even put an adapter in. And we've also made a terrible, terrible keyboard that is the opposite of a joy to type on and which gets keys stuck down really easily. We also have really skimped on the battery compared to previous generations. Maybe we should step back and consider making it just a little thicker and making it a better overall product.

Or look at something like the HomePod. It's a $350 speaker with all this acoustic processing hoopla and like 8 or 9 speakers, with all it's "beamforming tweeters". But it's not even stereo, unless you buy a second one! I'm sure it's cool and all, but there's just no way that all that price and engineering gives appreciably better sound than even a $200 pair of bookshelf speakers (and probably not much better than a $100 pair like these, at least that 95%+ of people will notice), even if they don't form a bass-derived map of your room. And then, on top of that, anything that might make a smart speaker worth the extra price is pretty lackluster on the HomePod.

If you must get a 2.1, then I suggest getting the Logitech Z623. It is good for gaming, but not great for music. You can pick it up at Best Buy or Amazon for $99

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z623-Watt-Speaker-System/dp/B003VAHYTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540214631&sr=8-1&keywords=z623

If you want good sound quality for music, then I suggest either of the following systems in your budget:

Passive system:

Polk T15 Speakers - $70

and

At $125CD you are really limited to PC branded solutions. You should probably check over in r/PCSound as well. These are probably your best bet;

Also, whereas there are some speakers that matter a tiny bit more or less depending on the type of music you listen to, good speakers are good speakers no matter what.

whatever you do, get rid of that player! NOW! I have the exact same one, and I have a bunch, i mean a bunch of old vintage records my cousin gave me, and some of my pre existing records were scratched cause of that thing. The tracking force recommended is 1-3-3.5 grams, that victrola is a 4-6.5 at the least, get rid of it, return it and buy am audio technica LP 60 and a pair of edifier speakers, this is the speaker (click here > speakers) and this is the turn table (click here >turntable ) have fun though

u/thewaxbandit · 4 pointsr/vinyl

Two in one night!?! Fuck me.....

LP60's are bottom of the line but sounds like you already know that and are going to move forward with it anyways.

I would give you shit about not posting ANY details about what you are looking for other than "speakers" but i'm too tired for that.

Just buy these and be done with it:

They are powered, cheap, and a decent enough match for a cheap turntable. Don't use cheap computer speakers like so many other people do when they buy an LP60.

They're not bad for bookshelf speakers, people that care about it more than I do usually get a sub to go with them. But I'm satisfied

Would This turntable and these speakers be a decent beginner setup for someone whose budget is around $400 and if not what would be better?

u/The_Crystal_Crumbles · 3 pointsr/privatestudyrooms

I wish I could afford nicer speakesr, but unless you're an r/audiophile these [speakers] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016P9HJIA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) are great!

u/Ultra_Colon · 3 pointsr/funny

I'm pretty happy with my Edifier. Very good price / quality. 100$ for powered monitors.

u/JimboLodisC · 3 pointsr/vinyl

If your speakers have an AUX input, then I would think they're powered. You have to plug those speakers into the wall for power, right? Nm, just saw that you're using a bluetooth speaker. (which is definitely powered) So you just need to grab an RCA<->3.5mm adapter for like $5 or $6.

But I'd really recommend buying some real speakers. At the cheapest, look at some Edifiers for $100. From there, you could also look at Kanto, Micca, Klipsch, Polk, Audioengine, Dayton, Mackie, etc. Just search Amazon for "powered bookshelf speakers".

u/astutesnoot · 3 pointsr/Chromecast

Here's the speakers I use with my CCA in my living room.
https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

They sound really good, and I can control the volume with my Harmony remote. It comes with a tiny remote, but I already had the Harmony hub so it was just easier that way, plus now I can control the volume with Alexa. These particular speakers have two aux-in ports, though I'm only using one with my CCA at the moment. Read the reviews on Amazon.

u/MyUsernameIsJudge · 3 pointsr/hometheater

Logitech makes a lot of cheap crap and some of their speakers have fake components as well. There are a few things they make that aren't bad though from what I've heard.

Powered studio monitors is typically what people get for this setup - check out Edifier as well

https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=powered+studio+monitor&qid=1556028525&s=gateway&sr=8-7

u/Skitch_n_Sketch · 3 pointsr/audiophile

Edifier stuff gets love in budget ranges, the R1280T should fit your needs. The included 3.5mm to RCA cable should go from your Fulla 2 to the speakers, the Edifiers come with basically anything you'll need.

u/sampsans-ape-spray · 3 pointsr/vinyl

That's not a great table. I'd maybe consider putting money into an upgraded turntable before you invest more in speakers. But for $100, I'd suggest these: https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

I second Prodigy’s Edifier call. My kid just moved into the dorm with them, and I got to listen here at home for a bit before. They are QUITE good and you don’t have much room in that budget. You will need to isolate them by setting them on foam or something soft, they are pretty powerful and do cause vibration. Edifier on Amazon

However most of those suggestions are US focused. I looked on amazon.ca and can’t recommend Micca because they’re stupid expensive.

Instead I would go with something comparable like these: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B016P9HJIA/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would not recommend speakers from Bose. These Swans and these Edifers offer much better value and are both commonly recommended on r/BudgetAudiophile.

I mostly use a cheapo bluetooth speaker, an "Oontz", with an 1/8th jack to play my Circuit around the house and that has worked out really well to stay portable, because really anything is better than the internal speaker.

For the desk, I've been using a decent set of Edifiers I picked up for a $100 on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016P9HJIA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I mounted a plank across the top for an extra shelf-- If you were looking at larger speakers, you could always consider something like that to get the space back from their footprint.

I got this speaker set for my wife recently and it's amazing.

u/StanleyVermin · 2 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

Why those speakers? Is it the price? What about something that looks nicer like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016P9HJIA/ref=psdcmw_3236451011_t1_B00E7H8GG2

Would I benefit if I waited and raised my budget?

I was in your position not too long ago. I really wanted to get into the hobby but didn't have enough money to buy anything decent. The first thing I did was look for a job. This is easier said than done but once I found one I was surprised as to how quickly I could make money. One of the first things I bought was a nice pair of headphones. I bought the Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT, but the cheaper version without bluetooth looks just as good. I also started to collect records. It did feel pointless at times with no way of listening to them but I still appreciated the artwork. After that I decided to buy some nice bookshelf speakers, the Edifier R1280T's. Although the price was cheap, I absolutely love these speakers. Even though I didn't have a turntable yet, it made listening to Spotify more enjoyable. Additionally, I knew that I would have a nice pair of speakers for whenever I could afford a turntable. These speakers have two inputs so I can have both my PC and turntable plugged in at the same time which is really nice. Once I had enough for a turntable I had a little trouble picking out the right one. I almost settled for a lp60 but I'm glad I didn't. For me, it was between a U-turn Orbit, AT lp120, and Fluance RT81. All of these are great turntables but I ended up choosing the Fluance model. The wood look, large number of features, and good reviews made this the best turntable under $300 for me. That's my story! Please don't buy anything cheaply made. It won't sound any better than Spotify will for you and will be a little disappointing. Also, don't give up on trying to sell the PS4. I gave up video games around 6 months ago and I've had so much more free time to work and enjoy other things! Good luck!

>And, the best part, that DAC can always be added later. Get the speakers now, and if that still seems like an issue, see if the DAC helps.

This is a good point, don't spend money you don't need to... so, get the Lepy/MB42x, Poly147's Parts Express combo, or these Edifier speakers if you're more interested in active units for $100. If the volume isn't loud enough, then look into the DAC.

Are the items listed in the "best entry level turntable" guide above still relevant options for their respective prices? The post itself looks to be about 2 years old, with no new posts.

But assuming all are still good options, how is the Crosley C100 for a beginner at $140? Can it be paired with speakers like this without the need for any additional equipment (amp, preamp, etc)?

Are there any other viable turntables similar but closer to $100?

Speakers Edifier R1280T

I just recently built a new PC and got an expensive monitor so I have already broke my bank/budget with those. Monitor speakers suck so I want to buy a set of good speakers for Games, movies and music.

I am not a huge audio enthusiast. I just want good sound quality for day to day use. I really wanted to avoid those crappy plastic subwoofer speakers like Logitech ones for 30 dollars BUT at the same time I dont want to buy individual pieces and put together an audio system or spend a lot. I really dont want to go through the hassle of assembling an audio system. I would prefer a simple plug and play.

A good compromise was the Edifier R1280T. It has built in amp with power , Volume control and a nifty remote that I like. I even like the color scheme and aesthetics of the speaker. I think this is good enough for me as I wont even be able to appreciate or tell the difference between speakers that are more expensive. What do you guys think? Or Am I being stupid and just wasting money.

Thanks! I really love the way the Orbit looks with the wood finish plinths as well, but I knew I was going to want a natural finish cabinet, so going for contrast made more sense to me. Plus they were like an extra 90 bucks.

The speakers are a great deal at $100. Knowing what they sound like, I might have even shelled out another 50 for them. If they cost $200, I would maybe start thinking about looking elsewhere. They don't have the epic clarity and separation that you can potentially get from something like the Audioengines that can run 4x-8x times the price, but I certainly wouldn't say they're murky, even at low volume. At around 40% volume, they start to reach their full sound quality. At around 75%, they have no problem filling the 300ish square foot space that mine live in. They are front-ported, and they also look pretty great with the front covers on:https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

I'm in a very similar situation. I too, am looking into some bookshelf speakers for light music production and listening. I have not purchased anything yet, but I can share my research here!

Micca PB42x ($80, powered, no sub-out)

Edifier R1280T ($100, powered, no sub-out)

Fluance ai40 ($200, powered, no sub-out) <-- the one I'm leaning towards

Fluance ai60 ($300, powered, sub-out)

You can always add a subwoofer later by placing it first in the signal chain. In other words, you would need a powered sub with a through output.

I need to downsize my setup to make more space available for my wife’s home office. My current setup is a pioneer pl-450 along with a big pioneer setup from the late 80s early 90s. It’s got a receiver/ tuner/eq and a couple of 48” speakers. I need some smallish speakers and a new receiver/amp (I guess, not the most familiar) that I could put on a small table in our living room. Budget for all would be $2-300? I’d like to keep the PL-450 and connect it to something new with speakers if I can. The big pioneer setup can go back to my parents basement where it came from.

Could I just connect these to my PL-450? https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

u/deplorable-d00d · 2 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

You may like them. They're not bad!

Having something at arms reach would be preferable to trying to use them as a wider speaker setup in a room, because of each monitor has individual power and gain controls.

Will it sound good for you, sure. Will it thump? No, not really. Is there an easy way to add a sub, sure, throwing money at it with a pro sub that has an active crossover inside it.

Best thing to do is audition them. Monitors won't sound 'bad' at all, but it just may not be what you'd expect.

-----

I'd look into Edifiers (or Swan), for more ease of use and connectivity

u/DZCreeper · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Your board has a slightly modified Realtek ALC1150 chipset. It has a built-in adjustable headphone amplifier. Basically the best setup you get except for the slightly newer ALC1120, which is only a marginal increase to signal-noise ratio.

Being totally honest, your speakers are low-end. Not garbage by any means, they certainly beat out most cheap computer speakers. They just can't hold a candle to well designed bookshelf units or a pair of studio monitors.

Your headphones bypass the audio chipset entirely because they are wireless. From the reviews I can find they are great quality, just priced too high, as is expected from Bose.

TL;DR - Don't bother with the sound card, your audio gear isn't surpassing the limitations of your motherboard chipset.

I'd take a look at these. Edifier is owned and operated by parent company STAX Edifier owns STAX, which makes electrostatic speakers (and also some of the best sounding headphones ever made.) This set is $99 a pop, and until I decided to spring for some BX8's I found on craigslist, these were recently a real contender for a purchase of my own.

u/antoniouslj · 2 pointsr/hometheater

Get a pair of Edifier's for $100. Really hard to beat for a pair of near-field monitors.

You'll want to grab an Amazons Basic RCA to line cable though as the one that comes with the Edifier is junk.

Then pick up a low end sub from Zeo's guide (check the sidebar) when you can afford it. This little 2.1 system will sound miles above anything Logitech sells.

u/ohyouknowmewell · 1 pointr/vinyl

I'm in the process of moving into my first apartment solo and have put off getting a player until this moment. I've been reading through the basics and I saw I shouldn't put the speakers on the same surface as the player. Are there ways around this? Dampeners or something to reduce vibration? I don't have much room for everything.

Also in terms of volume levels, does anyone recommend speakers that will sound fantastic at lower levels? I'll be sharing a building with multiple tenants and don't want to crank it all the time.

Cheapest: Audio Technica AT-LP60 ($99, $129 for the USB version)

Sorta cheap, sorta expensive: U-Turn Orbit Basic ($179, $249 with a built in preamp, plus you can customize it with different cartridges, colors, platters, etc. but it will come at a higher cost)

Best of the cheap: Audio Technica AT-LP120 ($299)

After you get a turntable, you need speakers and (of course) records. If you go for the no built in preamp version of the Orbit, then you need a preamp. I recommend this preamp and these bookshelf speakers for your setup.

Happy listening!

EDIT: Another tip, DO NOT BUY ANY TURNTABLES UNDER $100. Those turntables are cheaply made and will go through your records incredibly fast. Also, DO NOT BUY ALL IN ONE VINYL/CD/CASSETTE UNITS. Like the cheap turntables, these will go through your records very fast.

There is no such thing as "decent" sound bar, unless you're one of those people who's blown away by Bose. For the same money you can buy actual good bookshelf speakers that will sound far better and you can take with you for decades. Sound bars are disposable.

Example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016P9HJIA/

u/podboi · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hmm, well that's the part I was talking about, the small drivers just have a hard time driving full range. You're not gonna get much better unless the size of the speakers change or the actual set up changes (bigger self amped bookshelves or passive set + amp). This is what I recommend tho.

Edifier Exclaim = $20 higher than your budget, but it fits the size requirements and sounds good.

Edifier R1280T = Same price as above but should offer better sound but is bigger, if you're willing to size up but just want 2.0 set up this is what I recommend.

And tip while you're at it, when looking at audio peripherals don't go for PC peripheral manufacturers, find companies that are actually focus on audio equipment. You can certainly find other manufacturers besides Edifier which I recommended.

if bluetooth not really important for you you can get something like this or this then you can get chromcast audio and use it with them.
sidenote: bookshelf speakers wont really have much bass btw.

For that price it does not matter what he gets. Its going to be terrible, sound awful, damage the records and break the minute the warranty runs out.

$200 will get you this, which is almost decent.

Turntable: Audio technica AT-LP 60?

I don't know if i need a receiver/amp/preamp due to the lack of reviews online. please help, thank you!!

u/cb1037 · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

You might want to save a little more money. You will need some powered speakers. The Micca PB42X or the Edifier R1280T would both work.

The at-lp60 and the Micca's would be $200 before tax, but you might want to upgrade the turntable to one of the others listed here.

Just make sure to get one with the preamp built in. The U-turn Orbit will be $249 with the preamp.

u/Keen_Savage · 1 pointr/audiophile

only powered speaker speakers kind just want to get the music playing sooner or later, i was looking at these but want sure

u/IsaidBAM · 1 pointr/audiophile

I am looking for a cheap set of speakers for my dorm room. I have checked out the miccas and they seem like a great option. My only reservation is that I may sometimes want bluetooth connectivity for parties and such. With that in mind, will this set of speakers be that much of a downgrade in comparison?
What would I be getting with Miccas that I would lose with this set up?
My room is only about 115 sq ft., will either of these be a good fit for that?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some cartridge assistance/general information on a first TT I am purchasing as an x-mas gift for my girlfriend (she's rad).

I've read all the links and guides and have finally settled on two choices for a new TT: the Fluance RT83

or the Denon DP-300F

The Denon DP-300F is on sale for black Friday currently so I am leaning towards it. That being said, I would like to replace the cartridge on it with a Ortofon 2M Red. How difficult would it be for someone completely new to TT's like myself to replace the cartridge? Would I be better off purchasing it already upgraded from another source and just pay the difference for the work and peace of mind that it is done correctly: https://www.turntablelab.com/products/denon-dp-300f-turntable-ortofon-2m-red-upgrade

Also, as a side note, I am looking at pairing both with an active speaker (I'll upgrade and do things the right way as I get more funds--ugh!). And if I go with RT83 I'll pick up a Schiit Mani pre-amp as well. To hook everything up, all I'll need is two pairs of RCA cables for connecting the TT to the pre-amp and then another pair to connect pre-amp to speakers correct? I would hate to get everything all packaged together for x-mas and then figure out I didn't even get the right cables to hook this bad boy up.

Cheers

I am considering getting into the world of vinyl music and have been doing a little research. I am currently considering the Audio Technica AT-LP120BK-USB, which has a built in phono pre-amplifier, meaning I can plug it into "active" speakers directly to begin listening to music.

I have been looking on Amazon and found the two speaker sets below. Which would you consider the better set? Are there any other recommendations in that price range ($100-$130)?

I think, in the price range this is my favorite option for a desktop/ computer speaker that is focused around music, is the M-Audio AV32.1. The bass will be less compared to the Klipsch (simply by power), but the sound quality through the mids and highs will be much better on the m audio. Just note they are uncovered speakers so if you are at all worried about them being damaged. The only thing I don't like about the m audio av32.1 is the use of glossy plastic....

Edit: I'd also note that with a budget of 200 you open up more powered studio monitor options.

Edit 2: If you can live without a stand alone subwoofer, the Edifer R1280T are a solid option, and look nice

u/zenexo · 1 pointr/vinyl

I'm trying to keep it cheap for right now. Maybe I should go with the audio technica for a beginner turntable. I noticed the the needle moves automatically with button presses but can I still move it manually?

Also I don't see an headphone out on these but what do you think for $100? https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536357373&sr=8-6&keywords=active+speakers

Any suggestions on good powered speakers (preferably that I can get with amazon prime) for around $100 or less? Thanks.
(I was looking at these possibly?)

u/FullForceHi-Fi · 1 pointr/vinyl

Yeah, unfortunately you're not alone. I've had family members buy Logitech stuff and it not work out the box only to replace it with another set that didn't work a few days later. Logitech even sells speakers with fake tweeters that can just be pulled out.

If you want recommendations just a little over the price of those logitechs, here's what I'd get:

Micca PB42x $109
I've heard really great things with price to value on this set. It's got a proper crossover and should sound pretty great.

Edifer R1280T $99

My friend has a set of these, and he really likes them I haven't heard them for myself yet, be he recommends them for the price, and I trust his judgement!

I'm a college student as well, so I understand budget determines most things right now, so if those don't work for you I'd recommend just exchanging the logitechs for a hopefully new working pair.

What do you think would be a better option? I was looking at the Swans M10s or the D1010, but I've been told the M10s don't really pack that much of a punch. I'm trying to spend at maximum, $120.

I also came across these just now.

u/Lets_Rock · 1 pointr/Beatmatch

u/ZGriswold · 1 pointr/audiophile

I am looking at powered speakers. I will be using these mainly for listening to music in my office. Source will be my PC, and hopefully, eventually a vinyl setup. I have max $150 to spend. I am looking at a powered setup for simplicity. I could probably be swayed into an amp/non powered combo, but I think it's a stretch at $150. I need something good for all genres of music, good bass, I understand a 2.0 bookshelf setup won't be like have a separate subwoofer. I have been going back and forth among about 10 pair of speakers and I just can't make a decision.

Hi all!

My current set up is a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with a Ortofon 2M Red. Preamp is Pro-Ject brand (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007DB5IDS/ref=psdc_689995011_t3_B000YEK1AQ) and my speakers are Edifier 1280T (https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1QB3B62HWY4MY&keywords=edifier+speakers&qid=1549981297&s=electronics&sprefix=edifier%2Celectronics%2C134&sr=1-3).

I have been pretty happy with this....BUT, what would be the best way to upgrade my sound? Hypothetically, let's say I have between $500-600USD to spend on some way to upgrade.

Thanks for your suggestions!

u/so-very-very-tired · 1 pointr/vinyl

It really comes down to what you want to get out of it, and that really comes down to the individual person.

For my son (who's about your age), we found a used Technics P-mount for $20, a vintage Radio Shack mini receiver and a pair of pretty decent used bookshelf speakers from Goodwill. Less than $100 it all and he's very happy with it.

But that takes time and effort to find all that stuff used, and I can't blame people for not having the time.

So, all that said, here's what I'd suggest for a new setup:

$100 turntable from Target: https://www.target.com/p/heyday-153-turntable-gray/-/A-53734379

$100 powered speakers from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

Now, I don't think you'll be blown away by that, but it should work, and give you time to really decide how much you want to commit to this hobby.

Then, when you're 16 and get a part time job, you can consider upgrading to a better system at that point.

u/RunningOrangutan · 1 pointr/vinyl

I'm looking at buying this turntable and these speakers

From looking at the guides on here I think this is all I need for a basic, beginner set-up. Am I right or is there more equipment I will need? I plan on upgrading speakers in the future but just want to get the ball rolling.

u/shadowkoishi93 · 1 pointr/vinyl

Lots of people tend to recommend the Edifier R1280T, although it lacks a headphone jack:

https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

u/zzzpoohzzz · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Right now all I'm running is an Audio Technica LP-120 and Edifier R1280T's I'm sure I'll be upgrading as time goes on, but its a nice little setup. Those little speakers sound great, TBH.

u/thendawg · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

New case? But something tells me you just took the bezel off to mess with us... or if you dont care how it looks, its whatever, but the rest of your setup makes me think thats not the case.

Other than that, a speaker upgrade or headphones would be a solid investment.

EDIT Adding a couple specific recommendations.

The Edifier R1280T is a great budget monitor - and a pair comes in at exactly $100 on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA

Headphone wise, I highly recommend the ATH-M50's for a budget headphone, the sound quality is much better than the pricepoint, you can pick them up around $100 on ebay/refurb, but new youre looking at closer to $150. I only make recommendations on products Ive used firsthand and these are one of the first "real" pairs of headphones I bought and still use them occasionally even with the other cans I have around.

Other folks recommending a cooler upgrade, I'd only do that if youre currently running into temp issues. If temps are staying low enough, no sense in spending the $$ unless you just really want to go with something else or have plans to upgrade CPU.

u/iXeron · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Hi guys, hoping you could help me with a basic setup. My dad passed recently and left me about 200 vinyl records, mostly from the 70's and 80's. I'd like to listen to them, but I do not have any sort of set up.

I looked at the suggested threads / wiki, and it looks like I'll need a turntable, amp, and speakers. There's a lot more I can get, but for now I'm just happy with a barebones setup so I can listen to some old jams.

I live in USA-MI, and my budget is $200-500. A few caveats:

  • I live in an apartment complex. I do not need it to be too loud / window shaking.
  • I have limited space - tall, 3' speakers are out of the question.
  • I have this desk.
  • My goal was to put the turntable atop the desk, then find a shelf to put under it if I need an amp / other equipment / storage for records.

    Anyways, here's what I found:

  • Crossley C100A-SI, decent turntable for the price.
  • Edifier R1280T Speakers, seem small enough to politely sit on the desk.

    Questions:

  • Is this all I need? Will the speakers plug directly into the turntable? Will the turntable come with a needle?
  • How much of a difference are the ~$100 turntables vs the 200 / 300? Will I actually notice it, or is it mostly just marketing?
  • Are there better recommendations for my budget? If so, what would you recommend and why?

With $300, I will try and suggest a setup that will be an easy, no frills setup for casual listening.

You could get the Pro-Ject Debut III (a predecessor of the Debut Carbon) for a cool $200 thanks to a BF sale that Music Direct is running.

Next, I highly recommend this pair of bookshelf speakers available on Amazon for $99.

You'll need to shell out a couple bucks for a preamp to get sound from the turntable to the speakers, but you can get great sound out of an affordable preamp like the Pyle Pro PP999 for less than $15.

Best of luck finding a setup that suits your needs!

I do, I use my old AV receiver with passive speakers. You have options on that though.

  • Passive speakers and a small AMP: micca MB42 for $59.95 and a small amp like this Lepai 2020 for $24.38.
  • powered speakers that won't need an amp: edifiers for just over your budget at $109. There are a lot of options for powered speakers some with Bluetooth builtin, but the good ones of those start around $130.

That eats up all your budget with speakers and amp. Checking Craigslist or Facebook marketplace you might find deals, particularly on a nicer stereo amp or AV receiver to use with some passive speakers. If you are interested in running Volumio on a Pi, that's going to add a bit more. For the pi you need, the Pi ~$35, DAC $20+, case $15, SD card $15+, and power supply $10. The pi is pretty nice with Volumio though, it has a good mobile webpage plus iOS and android apps for a few bucks. Volumio has plugins that allow for it to be an airplay receiver or to use Spotify.

I'm not sure how good they are but I've seen them recommended a lot. And I want a pair myself: Edifier R1280T.

Since you've got an Audio Technica, I suggest getting a pair of these Edifiers

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016P9HJIA/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_9y3oDbCRSWA7C

They're great for the price and they're active speakers, unlike the similarly priced Miccas, so you won't need to hook 'em up to an amp or receiver.

I need to buy speakers. It will be mostly for music-series-vids with the pc and ocasionally with my smartphone. I will be most of the time 1 1/2m away from them and I have a good space behind the place I will put them. My room is like 5x6m but the speakers will be kinda in the middle of the room. I don't listen at a extreme volume level.

Recommendations? most of the people outside this reddit recommended me the Edifiers over the Micca. I'm all ears anyway!

This is probably not what your looking for but it's most likely a solution to your problem and give you sound from both at the same time (but not the internal speaker)

How does your amp connect to your TV? if it's older/via RCA wires you can just get a Y splitter

Dual Y connectors into the imput. 2x 1 male two female

something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/FosPower-Adapter-Splitter-Connectors-Extension/dp/B01M1I3OFH/

If it's newer and your amp gets sound via HDMI it's a little more complicated and not sure if this will 100% work but anyways. You'd need a HDMI source Y splitter and a RCA to HDMI adapter/extractor.

Plug the HDMI splitter into the amp, connect the source to one of the imputs, then connect the echo imput to the RCA to HDMI adapter, then finally connect the adapter to the other imput on the HDMI Y splitter.

https://www.amazon.ca/Splitter-Fosmon-Powered-Duplicated-Simultaneously/dp/B07DD3LD44/

Personally I just got speakers from this company to reduce the overall imprint of my setup, both inputs are active so I ran a 3.5mm to rca from my echo dot to one of the inputs and 3.5mm to rca from the headphone jack on my tv to the other set of inputs and everything plays at once, not surround sound but great sound, I also have a 10" powered sub connected, no needs for amps or anything like that anymore just two powered speakers and a sub, really cuts down on footprint.

https://www.amazon.ca/Edifier-R1280T-Bookshelf-Speakers-Monitors/dp/B016P9HJIA/

Keep in mind all those are in CAD/Canada Dollars so prices may seem inflated if you're in the US.

I'm looking for a simple active speaker that accepts aux input and has a powered USB port. Bonus points for the PlayStation style power cord.

I plan on pairing each speaker with a Chromecast for a full house audio system.

I'm hoping I can get better quality speakers than the typical portable Bluetooth types. I don't want to pay for batteries and waterproofing if I don't need them. I also am trying to avoid the Sonos and Bose types. They seem expensive and come with their own wireless connectivity and smarts that the Chromecast will provide.

Here are some suggestions and/or speaker sets I've found in my searches. Let me know which one you would prefer:

u/dav_jw · 1 pointr/bapccanada

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but have a look at "powered bookshelf speakers". The amplifier will be integrated into one of the speakers, you connect this one directly to your computer via RCA or 3.5mm. Some will even have an integrated DAC with USB and/or bluetooth connectivity. The second speaker is connected with regular speaker wire to the amplifier in the first speaker.

It is pretty neat. I can finally listen to my one vinyl! It doesn't sound the best, but I'm not in a position to complain since it was $15

Edit: mine aren't the P12's. I looked on amazon and mine are not passive speakers, they are powered. I have these

u/JDStap12 · 1 pointr/vinyl

I'm looking into purchasing speakers for my Rega Planar 2 and [these Edifier R1280DB speakers] (https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280DB-Bluetooth-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B0719C132V/ref=sr_1_35?s=cyber-monday&psr=EY17&ie=UTF8&qid=1511798399&sr=1-35&keywords=speaker) are on sale on Amazon.

These are powered speakers, so I won't need an amplifier, and they have the proper cable inputs. I couldn't find anything that says anything about an included Phono Stage though, but I did see it [here] (https://www.turntablelab.com/products/audio-technica-at-lp60-turntable-edifier-r1280db-speaker-package-ttl-setup) included in a turntable bundle, so I'm not sure.

Anyone have any information on these speakers? Also, do these sound nice? Thanks.

Edit: [Found these Edifier R1280T speakers] (https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511799973&sr=8-1&keywords=edifier+r1280t). I believe these do have the Phono Stage pre-amplifier included so I might get these with a little more research.

I have these, and my high quality reproduction demands were met and exceeded. they look great, too. they are not as big as picture indicates, but you would need to get rid of that tower on your desk first.

Hello again /r/Vinyl, after taking all of the advice I got here last time I have officially pulled the trigger on a table and some equipment. I decided to go with the Audio Technica LP-120 for a table, Edifier R1280T powered bookshelf speakers, and an ART DJPRE II pre-amp. I still have to buy all the proper wires, but that’s the gear I have coming. I was just hoping to get some advice on anything else I may need.

Additionally, I was hoping to get some recommendations for some good first records. I’ll be raiding my old man’s collection but that will only get me so far!

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get a turn table for my girlfriend because the last one I bought (~$40) has motor issues. I guess you get what you pay for, but I learned my lesson.

However, I'm a bit daft on receiver compatibility and what a preamp is and if I need one.

Could someone tell me if these speakers and this turntable pair well together and if I need the preamp built in or not?

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I'm soon moving in with some roommates and collectively we own a JBL partybox 300, a subwoofer - I don't know what kind but it has the red and white "line in" on the back and Edifier R1280T

Is it possible to connect all of these together with the red and white cords or is that not how it works. Also would it sound bad if they were all connected and would it all be synchronized? We would be using it for music mostly.

u/temeje · 1 pointr/audiophile

Hi,
I have Edifier R1280T speakers which have 2 sets of RCA Inputs.

I have 3 sources of audio: a turntable, a chromecast audio, and a Roland Quad-Capture.

I'm wondering how I can connect all three sources to the two inputs (2 white, 2 red) on my speakers. I tried RCA Male to Dual RCA Female but the sound was very quiet.

Would RCA piggyback cable work or would I just have the same issue?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

u/AllDressedChip · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

Thanks for the answer and suggestion. But I haven't really the space or desire for a subwoofer. Is there an option you'd recommend more like bookshelf speakers, but self-powered?

Edit: the same company makes these, and I also found these.

u/editjames · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

OK I love those speakers. What are they?! Edit* are they these?

u/BraakOSRS · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

They’re 99$ at Amazon right now,
https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1280T-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016P9HJIA
I think I bought them for 80€ which is why I was confused!

u/confusedsloth64 · 1 pointr/vinyl

I don't really have a budget. I just want good quality, good price. I wanted to get these powered speakers and this preamp. Bonus question, would it be better to get that preamp or to get the Basic with built in preamp? If I get an external one, I can upgrade in the future but how is the preamp important enough to do so?

u/jcimba · 1 pointr/Chromecast

Although $15 more, consider the powered [Edifier 1280T] (http://www.edifier.com/us/en/speakers/studio-1280t-2.0-powered-bookshelf). These bookshelf sound great for the price point, are housed in a solid wood enclosure, have multiple audio inputs (including the 1/8-inch), remote for input switching and audio control, a 2 year warranty, and arrive with all the cables needed. It's currently the best selling bookshelf speaker on Amazon. Here's a [YouTube review] (https://youtu.be/7JgZIUDmbHo).

If you wish to save more, I also have another CCA connected to an ONEU Mini Amp that I've connected to a pair of used AR tower speakers that I scored buying from Goodwill for $20.

u/coreyisthename · 1 pointr/audio

The speakers I have will only work with speaker wire. There is nothing else on the back except for red and black knobs to screw in the wire.

edit: I think I am going to buy THESE. Will that solve my problem?

u/MrPickleBottoms · 1 pointr/audiophile

I think I'll be going with the Edifier R1280T then with the JBL's down the road! Thanks for your input!

never personally heard them but based on appearance and specs, as well as reviews, they'll be significantly better than those Klipsch speakers

personally, if I had $100, I'd get Micca MB42s and a Lepy amp

my current setup I purchased used and have had zero issues, so I'd say check Kijiji if you're willing to take a 'risk'

Even bookshelf speakers fall under the same category as monitor speakers, they are compact and fit really well. These speakers tend to be more accurate than regular speakers. I'm not an audiophile but someone over here could give you a better explanation. They tend to cost a little more as well. eg : Edifier R1280T Bookshelf speakers.
