Edit: If anyone is doubtful, it took me just a few seconds to pull up this piece on Amazon's page for Egghead using their Look Inside feature: screenshot. I'm genuinely baffled as to why so many people seems convinced that this is a work by Shel Silverstein.

I'm a huge fan of Bo's comedy, and he directed the movie 8th grade. This book is full of jokes and thought-provoking pieces, all in poems. It's fantastic, and I think it's exactly what you're looking for.

There are so many other great ones, but I am at work and don't have the book with me. This is the only one I can remember.
