You'll be pretty hard-pressed to find a powerful machine with the gtx 1060 and a great battery life. The Acer predator 300 has an advertised 7 hour battery life for $1050 and is widly considered one of the best value laptops based on its specs and price range. It has an Intel Quad Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb of ram, a 256GB SSD, and that GTX 1060 dGPU.

Alternatively, look into the Acer V15 Nitro for $1180if you're looking for a more sleek laptop with a 1TB HDD.

If you were willing to sacrifice some of the battery life from the predator, this Eluktronics P650 for $1300 is a very popular laptop and great at this price range. Its well built, and powerful with many customizable specifications, a good display, and a sleek design. The rest of the specs are an Intel Quad core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb ram, a 512gb SSD, and a GTX 1060 dGPU making it a very powerful machine. You could add an aftermarket HDD if you desired, but the SSD is rather large at 512.

For an option at the top of your budget, this Eluktronics P650 for $1500 has everything you'd want (except for the battery life), including an Intel Kaby lake i7-7700HQ processor, 16GB of ram, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, and a GTX 1060dGPU. The display is a 120 HZ for this model as well.

Hopefully this will help you out. If you want more of an idea as to whats on the market, consider checking my extensive laptop recommendation guide

What do you think about the Eluktronics N850HK1

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • 15.6” Full HD IPS Display
  • 512GB Performance SSD
  • RAM 16GB DDR4

The Acer you linked is one of the most recommended laptop at its price point but as you don't like the look check the laptop I liked out. It has a significantly weaker GPU (won't affect your CAD work and most games will run well). You have a larger than average SSD and an IPS screen for wide viewing angles

From what I understand, Eluktronics is one of many brands that use chassis/shells made by Clevo and rebrand them after customizing the internals themselves. Sager, Xotic, and Eluktronics are among the many resellers of clevo chassis laptops.

Of the many resellers, Eluktronics typically gets singled out for having very good heat management for its internals here on reddit.

MSI, while still lesser known, I wouldn't really call it an off-brand at this point. They've been making a name for themselves for quite a few years now, they just don't have the marketing power of other brands because they're based in Taiwan.

I can't speak on the models you listed but I just purchased this Eluktronics model and it should be arriving tomorrow, I'd be more than happy to report back on the build quality and whatnot if you'd like!

The P650HP6 is on sale at amazon right now for $1299.99

Also, in the eyes of transparency, Eluktronics has the following ratings on a few of the more popular sale sites -
100% positive on ebay lifetime (albeit not very active there)
99% positive on Amazon lifetime
*94% positive on Newegg

I had many many questions prior to purchasing a laptop. I had shopped Lenovo Y720, Acer Predator Helios, as well as a few others. i had several bad experiences with the aforementioned companies regarding getting answers about their product. I emailed eluktronics and got a very well typed, very professional and personalized email back from whom i believe to be their CEO with detailed answers to all of my questions. That's the major reason i chose said company (there are other clevo based companies in the states that build off the same chassis).

This laptop also has a wonderful build quality , thanks to it's Clevo chassis and it's solid- crunchy RGB keyboard, you will definitely like.

Hi,

A gaming laptop with a good battery life is hard to find - most of them are made to last 3-5 hours - keeping that in mind I have made this noteb search

You can see and change the search parameters using the "Refine results" button in the upper-left part of the search results page. You can also click on the laptops for more information.

I think this one is worth checking out - Clevo P650HP - has the best battery life in your budget with this graphic card - and a great build overall - you can find the configuration I gave you on amazon at 1300$

u/BestBeating · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I would go with Acer Predator Helios 300 because your option Eluktronics P650 in this price range comes with 7th gen i7 processor, and they both with Eluktronics MECH-15 has 60Hz display refresh rate, when Acer comes with 144Hz, 300nit Brightness & 72% NTSC.

u/LonerIM2 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I would recommend the Eluktronics P650HP6 becuase it comes with i7-7700HQ which is one of the best CPUs in the market ,15.6" Full HD IPS screen,16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM great for multitasking ,512GB SSD and a Full Size RGB Silver-Lining Backlit Keyboard this is the most upgradable brand you can get and i think it has Good warranty and customer support.

u/Orangematz · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

You may want to spend more for this.

u/Skipper3210 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks for the response! After watching the video, I was a bit disappointed with the short battery life, but other than that it looks perfect.

What is your opinion on this one? Eluktronics P650HP6 Premium VR Ready Gaming Laptop

u/anotherDocObVious · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

About the Eluktronics - these 3 1-star reviews are a bit worrying.

https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-P650HP6-Premium-Gaming-Laptop/product-reviews/B01MT7P0QJ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_hist_1?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&sortBy=recent&filterByStar=one_star&pageNumber=1

I mean, they're drowned in the sea of positive reviews, however, if I am unlucky to bite the probability bullet and land a lemon, it's going to be a lot of heartburn :'(

Thoughts?

XoticPC and SagerNotebook are a couple of others. I ordered the Eluktronics P650HP6 yesterday from Amazon.com and it should be here Monday. They had a deal for the GTX1060 w/ 512GB nvme SSD for $1299 here.

I'm a little unclear about the convincing but I would go for the cheaper GTX 1060 models. Gaming at 1080p, that card is more than enough for most if not all games on high/ultra settings. Not to mention you will get ever so slightly better battery life. On the other hand the 1070 in the higher models will last longer.

edit: fixed the sager notebooks link.

u/TurbulentNunga · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks so much for your help! One last question (hopefully lol). I think I may want to stick with the 1060 because pricing (I would like some leftover money to buy the Vive) and I won't be using the laptop primarily gaming, mostly strong enough to handle my editing programs and strong enough for occasional VR use/UE4 tests. So I found these three versions on Amazon:
1,
2,
3
The first is $1.2k and the other two are $1.4k and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why. When I looked at the difference between the Pro and Pro-X versions it says "Pro-X series utilizes an ultra performance M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD which offers roughly 4-5 times faster read and write speeds." So is it better performance for less money?

u/Brian1zvx · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Have you any experience using this Laptop previously or is it just the one you have ordered? I just like to hear anecdotal evidence, especially when it comes to the aspects such as build quality.

Looks like a good suggestion.

Any reason why it is better than this one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT7P0QJ/ref=psdc_13896615011_t1_B01MR67WBY

Thank you! I was a couple clicks away from buying this before I decided to splurge on [this Eluktronics P650HP6] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT7P0QJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_7VBUAbM8CG593). If you know of any glaring error in this particular model that I missed please let me know. Thanks again!

u/mmmmm_pancakes · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks for this comment too - I was actually leaning towards the N850HP6 Pro units for better value (this one looked like my choice), but Amazon isn't carrying them until after I need the laptop, so I was slightly bummed. Hearing that the build quality is weaker helps. :)

I've also gone through all of the P650HP6 options available, and after burning all morning on this... I'm now back to choosing between the the exact one you recommended originally, and the Acer Predator again! It's so hard to compare "aesthetics and ratings" to "$300 in savings and usable battery"...!

EDIT: Cleaned up links per excellent subreddit policy

u/Sandcaaat · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Between your suggestion and Orangematz above, I started looking into the Clevo/Sager/Eluktronics approach.

It looks like the HP6 is the 1060 model while HK1 is the 1050 Ti model, and I was able to find this Eluktronics HP6 for an extremely competitive price in that range on Amazon.

Without any real consistent reports on what the battery life is like and how someone arrived at those results, though, I'm just a little wary on taking the chance outside the Dell selections...

This is under 1500 and would seem to fit your needs really well, if you want more graphics power you can bump it up to a 1070 for a few hundred more. If you don't like that one specifically then at least you have an idea of the specs you should be looking at.

u/Peng15 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm hoping to get something with better specs than
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MT7P0QJ if I were to spend towards my max budget. I'm open to any suggestions, it seems like 15.6 inch is the most common type for gaming computers, but size is not something I care about. I'd rather have better specs than a "perfect" size.

u/legored · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

May I ask why the P670 over this P650 when it has double the ram and SSD storage?

u/ThatGuyWithTheText · 1 pointr/laptops

So the Eluktronics brand are based on clevo/sager laptop builds. So don't feel like you have to go with that brand. Because of that, they are usually pretty easy to upgrade (once you get all the damn screws out).

So the first link has a 1050ti; again I would go with the 1060 because it's a huge step forward. The 2nd has the 1050ti as well but paired with a 4k screen. I am really against 4k screens on laptops, the pixel to screen ratio just doesn't make sense (you can always connect a bigger 4k screen when your working).

I would recommend getting this to one at the bottom of my post if you are willing to go up to 1500. 512 ssd is going to hold you up just fine and you can always add a 2nd hard drive later. BUT if you end up going with this, call the company directly and haggle with them. Buying directly from them will probably save you a bit of cash.

When looking for a good gaming laptop, there are several key things you have to pay attention to. You will need a good processor, preferably quad core i5 or i7 processor , 8 GB RAM or more, 1080 p screen resolution or higher, a good storage and one of the most important, a powerful dedicated graphics card. Heat management is also crucial in gaming laptops as laptops with poor heat management usually under-perform to prevent key components such as processor and graphic card from being damaged by heat.

Within your budget and based on you wanting to play the Witcher 3 at the best setting you can get , you will need to get the laptop with the best graphics card you can in this budget which will be the GTX 1060 6GB graphics card. This Eluktronics P650HP6 laptop would be your best pick within that budget range and is an excellent one to be honest. It has a powerful i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, fast 512 GB SSD and a solid gtx 1060 graphics card for gaming. It also has a very good heat management, good display and a solid chassis.

u/edgemaster191 · 1 pointr/Dell

Thanks for the side by side shot, that kind of confirms my fears with the FHD panel.

I'm also taking a look at some Eluktronics laptops, they have full power 1060s and decent panels.

My concern here is with the warranty, it's nice that i can buy 4 years of extra warranty through Dell, not sure how it is with these guys.
