see below for an article on horizontal gene transfer in swine.
There are reports of a similar mixed variant in Ohio months ago.
Documentation of a similar mix: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6TD6-4V9S3MC-3&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=60104b5580649ec4354dd7dbb3ba2fd0
So, to add up, we have basic genetics knowledge supporting this hypothesis, evidence if horizontal gene transfer in pigs, evidence of influenza mixing in pigs, known susceptibility of all three types of flu in pigs, an example of such a mix.
Keep in mind, the conditions of a pig is rarely checked and such a variant doesn't necessarily make for a noticeably ill pig. Just as not every flu affects everyone the same (some are noticeable, some are not) they are just as contagious.
I'm not going to explain all the background, it's just too large, but it's all in here: http://www.amazon.com/Epidemiology-STUDENT-CONSULT-Online-Access/dp/1416040021/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240992145&sr=8-1
It's the standard text for epidemiology. Alternatively, any microbiology text will do as well and those can run as cheap as 20$. A microbiology lab manual will work too. Those are sometimes given away free.
