A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin is amazing and what I use as a break from reading so much political work. Don't overwhelm yourself with the heavy real-world stuff, comrade!
As far as socialist works, which is what I assume you want: The Essential Works of Lenin. It's a 4-in-1 book with The Development of Capitalism in Russia, What Is to Be Done?, Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism and The State and Revolution. Takes less time, money and resources to get this one book rather than all four separately.
I'm half way through God and the State by Bakunin, but I won't really recommend that. I'm not really a fan of Bakunin's writing style and for such a small piece of (unfinished) writing it's rather dense.
Fidel Castro's autobiography My Life is a great one to bridge the gap between political reading and leisure reading.
> Hillary Clinton's new book is a flop ...
People are more interested in honest stuff nowadays!
xD
There's a wide array of introductory material, but if you were to get just two individual books I'd suggest The Marx-Engels Reader and The Essential Works of Lenin.
I'd also suggest Marxist Classics volumes 1 and 2.

Just finished it myself, highly recommend to any commie. Development of capitalism, differences between social democracy and socialism, capitalism in its later stages to imperialism, the origins of the state, basically a basic rounded introduction into Leninist/Marxist dialectics.
