Hey! It looks like you've got a pretty solid build started here! I just want to point out a few things to make your life just a little bit easier.

  1. The motherboard you have will NOT work with the CPU that you've chosen. You picked a Z170A board, which works with the 6th and 7th generation (if BIOS is flashed) of Intel CPU's, and you're buying an 8th generation. So I would recommend this board or this one instead. Either will work, it just depends on how much money you want to spend.
  2. Don't buy the power supply you've picked. It puts out way more wattage than you'll use, so I would recommend saving some money and maybe picking up this one. As a bonus it has an RGB fan, so that's kinda cool. It's also fully modular, meaning that you only need to plug the cables into the PSU that you need instead of having extras to hide in your case.
  3. I'd also save some money on your RAM. This set is cheaper, faster, and only requires that you use two of your RAM slots instead of all four. More upgradeability in the future!
  4. Think about if you really need 2TB of storage right now. The 1TB SSD you have picked out is going to be great, and if you're new to PC gaming it's going to have plenty of space for awhile. You can always pick up a new HDD (like the Seagate one you have in your cart) later down the road.
  5. With the money that you've saved, I think that you could upgrade your graphics card from your 1060 (a GREAT option, don't get me wrong) to a 1070 like this one. (EVGA is a great company in my opinion, and I love their graphics cards.) It's a great contender for both 1440p and 1080p gaming!
  6. Others have said to get a cheaper air cooler instead of opting for the water cooler that you've picked. If you decide to go that route (completely fine) I would maybe go with something like this if you want something extra beefy to keep your CPU cool, or this less beefy one. Either way, 8th generation CPUs run hot, so the water cooler you have would work great.

So there ya go! I hope that you enjoy your new build, it's going to be amazing! If you PM me I'll add you on Steam and we can play some games together when your build is all set!

Prices on the 1070 are jacked right now - they were $330 on May 1 and $480 $430 on amazon today???

Amazon has the same price if they're tax-free for you. In stock this Friday, January 6th, however.

Same price on Amazon, but free same day shipping if you have prime and not having to deal with Newegg in case something goes wrong.

u/imthepb · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

The best historical price for that exact card on Amazon is $4 lower. From 10 days ago...

u/noelgallagherisgod · 3 pointsr/india

Nope. Go to Amazon.in
See if the product you are looking for has a "global store" flair. Like this one I bought
Amazon will take care of all the hassle and deliver at your door.

This one? https://smile.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support-08G-P4-5173-KR/dp/B01KVZBNY0

If you can get it without getting Taxed definitely grab that one, otherwise you're looking at ~$363 or so.

u/Sayakai · 3 pointsr/PcMasterRaceBuilds

The various names:

Founders Edition is nvidia's name for the reference edition of the current generation. It's carried by a lot of manufacturers, features a blower-style cooler, and no aftermarket overclocking. It's generally not recommended.

All others are brand-specific aftermarket cards, with custom cooler and frequently factory overclocking applied. Some of them may also have a custom circuit board layout. They'll all be in the same "region" of power, as the overclock won't be that massive, but they may run cooler, or allow more power draw for overclocking. You'll need to read the individual reviews - if you care. The differences are relatively small, the base chip is still definitly the deciding factor.

Upgrades:

RAM shouldn't be necessary for now. 8GB is still fine for gaming - 16GB can sometimes help, but it's not necessary, and I wouldn't invest in more DDR3 at this point.

A new power supply depends mostly on what you have right now. If it's some el cheapo model that you've used for years, I'd replace it - they don't get better over time. If it's something solid, it's fine to keep it, the wattage is definitly sufficient.

As for the GPU, if you're going for 144Hz in newer games than skyrim/cs:go as well, the GTX 1070 is worth a look, starting at $340 - though I'd spend a bit more on the sc black in that case. If you're not going for anything heavier, the RX 580 will be plenty.

If you're going for high framerate, also take another look at your cooler. You may be able to squeeze a bit more out of the CPU via overclocking, and at high framerates, the CPU is often the limiting factor.

Here's my current build. I think before I buy the parts, I want to upgrade to a 1070; mostly to make sure everything runs smooth as butter on a 144hz monitor.

For 1070s, I've mostly looked at this one. (EVGA 1070, $389.99)

For the price, is this the best 1070 I can get? I'd rather not spend much more than $400 on a GPU.

BTW: The cheap-ish mobo on the build is still worrying me a bit. Will I be fine with it, or should I upgrade to a nicer mATX/ATX board?

Thanks!

If you want to try 21:9 ultrawide, this should be a good place to start.
I included a CPU/MOBO/Cooler that can handle modest overclocking, incase you want to jump into it. There's a good guide on /r/overclocking and many youtube videos out there to get you started.
I went with a RX480 because the monitor supports Freesync. This an AMD only technology and would make this setup truly worth it.
Now if you didn't want a 21:9 ultrawide, you could swap that out for a GTX 1070 and a 144Hz 24" 1080p Monitor. Though I will note, that this monitor is also freesync and would benefit from an AMD GPU. That being said, the RX480 has a hard time reaching 144 FPS in most newer games.
* A note -- The 21:9 Monitor I included has support for 75Hz Freesync over Display Port, despite the product page on some sites listing it only at 60Hz.

I might go with this one here, what do you think of EVGA?

u/Impr0bable · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

A new GTX 1070 runs for $435 on Amazon. That in mind, if my card is valued ~$200 used, I think it'd be reasonable to say a GTX 1070 is worth (just based off the sales I've seen ~$350-$370 here on this subreddit) my GTX 1060 + $150 (~$350 value).

As for the GTX 1080, I did a little more digging and found they run a bit steeper used. I see it here on Amazon for $580, and I didn't look hard but didn't see /r/hardwareswap sales with prices sold still listed. I'm guessing ~$450-570 is probably what they went for (don't know)? So, if that were the case then a GTX 1080 would be worth my GTX 1060 + $250 (~$450 value).

Does any of that seem incorrect + the prices I edited? Let me know! Thanks.

EDIT: EVGA 1080 link was what I was going for. Wrong manufacturer.

u/9-9-99 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I see a GTX 1070 for a little under $500. I see the GTX 1060 is $300. Would two 1060s be better than the one 1070? I'm thinking in terms of being able to buy just one 1060 now, and another in a couple of months to help minimize the immediate cost of my build, assuming it's worthwhile.

You could always go for a GTX 1070 with a. Samsung SSD The 1070 is damn nice gpu without being super expensive AND the ssd is a nice addition. You may also look at upgrading your regular HDD to a 2-3 TB at the least.

u/HaroldSax · 1 pointr/pcgaming

Prices have been getting better. I've actually seen my card at the price I paid for it, which is this card and I got it for $430. Right now it's not, but it was for a week or so in early September.

You just gotta camp the pages, my guy. If you pay a little over the pre-mining prices, I don't view that is a huge deal, but it's your money, you do with it what you see fit!

u/LightsOut5774 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thank you for your suggestions! I went ahead and ordered the GTX 1070:Link

It's likely way more than I need at the moment but I'm sure I won't be disappointed with it for years to come, plus it has ~3X the performance while using 75 watts less power.

u/jungjai153 · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

The CPU Cooler is optional because the R5 1600 comes with a pretty decent heat sink that is RGB and you could try picking up a different variant of 1070 to save some money. Lastly you could try looking for faster ram which helps Ryzen performance a bit but all this is down to personal preference.

Will be able to play any game at 1080p, you can get windows for free using the guide at the top of the sub, if you want a non watermarked version you can replace the i7 with a i5 7600k or 6600k.

Also for about $100 more you could pick up a GTX 1070 that will outperform the Rx 480 by a notable margin.

Last week I was advised to take the plunge and upgrade from my GTX 660 to a 1070. Well, I am ordering today and was wondering if it matters which version I get with the below three or if I should just grab the most inexpensive.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) 08G-P4-5173-KR (SC BLACK) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0

Or a different version I am missing while researching. :P I currently play on a 21:9 ultrawide with a second 24in 1080p to view my stream/netflix/etc. Not sure if that matters. Have not really done a new build in 5-6 years. :)

Last question, semi-related. With one of these cards am I able to run the HDMI to the 4k TV I have on the wall and play my Steam games okay on it? Will the 4k scale down to 1080 or will me card try to run the games in 4k and overheat. Completely new to 4k also (and wouldn't be using it all the time, just wondering if that is an option since I already have a PS4 in same room with the 4k TV).

As always, thanks in advance! :)

u/thefallinleaf · 1 pointr/buildapc

Two choices for fan types, blower style like this:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Founders-Graphics-08G-P4-6180-KR/dp/B01FWI6F08

and double/triple fan designs like this:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support-08G-P4-5173-KR/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RGJTQJW5GJ7CARMZ911Q

Blower style is "reference" / factory, they run hotter and louder compared to their open air / "aftermarket" (the double fan) design. The aftermarkets are made by Add In Board partners like EVGA, MSI, etc.

OC is just the clock speed that the card is promised to hit. It's the same for CPUs, no one knows how far a component can go. There's also thermals to consider, but generally, all components can OC a little.

Other considerations would be fan bearings / warranty / return process / customer support / build quality. EVGA and Sapphire are the best.

And cost :D

515 for the SC edition of 1070 EVGA, but that seemed to go up today, now it's 539 on Amazon.

Seems like you're over-paying for the graphics card. If it was me, I'd shop that around more.

I bought mine for $400 usd off amazon that arrived yesterday, should be around that. I wanted a 1070ti but couldn't find a decent price. It already went up $45 dollars since I bought it, but there's this one for the same price now.

I did find a 1070ti that was $370, but it had 1 fan and was a site I wasn't familiar with and ultimated decided against it.

I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to graphics cards, and I know that the GTX 1070 comes in different variations. I'm guessing this one would do fine?

Hi, I'm completely clueless on computers.

I have a Spectre x360 with 16GB of RAM and Vega M GL graphics: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-spectre-x360-15-ch012nr

I'm currently getting 90 FPS at 1080p on low settings on Overwatch, which I'm happy with. However, I was hoping to get an eGPU setup so that I can:

a) Hit 144 FPS at low settings on 1080p for Overwatch

b) Record/Stream Overwatch gameplay for self review (ideally 1080p at 60 FPS, but can accept 720p at 30 FPS)

My main priority is getting guaranteed/consistent performance, and my second priority is a little bit of future proofing (e.g. play single player games like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption, at 1080p 60 FPS on a Low/Medium). I'm looking to get advice on what eGPU and GPU to buy, and if it makes sense to wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to buy.

I'm currently looking at the Razer Core X for the eGPU and either the GTX 1070 or GTX 1080.

Razer Core X ($299) https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Core-Thunderbolt-External-Enclosure/dp/B07CQG2K5K/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1538542397&sr=1-2&keywords=razer+core+x

I'm trying to upgrade the graphics card in my computer, but I'm kind of confused between the different versions of the below graphics cards and which one would be the best / most valuable. What are the differences between these and what are your thoughts on them?

1070 SC $399.99

1070Ti SC $399.99

1070Ti FTW2 $429.99

u/petergetbackinside · 1 pointr/buildapc

it's not recommended to buy the original card by nvidia, very few do it because of its poorer cooling solution and higher cost

here is a much better alternative that comes with a higher clock speed https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support-08G-P4-5173-KR/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487558097&sr=8-1&keywords=nvidia+EVGA+1070

and it's cheaper, and it has EVGA's very reliable warranty. and it's prettier

also wait for ryzen CPU's to come out in like 2 weeks you could very well be saving money and getting more performance

Because it's 3rd party sellers. Which for some reason always charge stupid amount of prices when no one really has stock.

This one is still high but lower than the rest

>and another $1500 for a computer to run it.

A GTX 970 is VR ready, and it's new gen equivilent GTX 1070 is also VR ready.

In total, if you were to scrimp on everything excluding the GPU and CPU, you're looking at maybe $1,000 for some of the high-end parts. Even with a i7 7700k you're only spending maybe $700 on both parts

$1500 would be for a top-of-the-line, future proof (for like, 1 generation) system. Maybe $900 total for a decent system that can easily handle VR.

Now the 7700 and 8800 apparently have minimal differences. I would go with the cheaper one, but then again it's only an extra 20-30$ why not just go with the 8700k.

It's a terrible time to buy GFX cards right now since everyone in their mother is mining coins. I would go with this card though. I have a card like this and its perfect.

I'm looking to upgrade my gpu and on amazon the 2070 is currently $100 cheaper than this 1070. A friend of my said that the 2070 is better in some aspects but not all. Is the 2070 worth it especially at this price?
EDIT: I curretntly have a 770

stock evga clocks. But 3$ a day includes my 4790k oced to 4.7ghz.

u/mattzter2 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I gotcha. Yeah I’d probably start off with a 60hz monitor and then I’d upgrade after all the Christmas expenses are over. But knowing I’m going to upgrade monitors, should I just go ahead and go for the higher performer right off the bat?

As for the GPU, was thinking about this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OyzaAbHR5XPZT

Thoughts?

u/zebrastripe665 · 1 pointr/gaming

This GTX 1070 ($389 with Amazon prime) is very powerful and fits into the top of your budget. It should be good for years to come unless your processor is too slow and bottlenecks it. The AMD RX 480 ( can probably find the 8gb model at $220 on sale) is also a good, and much cheaper, option that frequently goes on sale. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VCXAybYK7PNST

u/KrisBook · 1 pointr/buildapc

I don't see the point in getting that one tbh. Costs a lot and doesn't have an features that justify the price. Did you get some special deal on it or something?

This one is way better and costs less:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0/?tag=pcpapi-20

But to answer your question, no it shouldn't be that much louder than any other dual fan 1070. Should be fine.

u/stormfreeman · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

Oh wow looks like I'll have a few extra hundred, do you think this would be a viable video card upgrade https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_1hLJyb4YJNGHW ? Or where should I put that money if not

u/Gnomish8 · 0 pointsr/gadgets

Here's my quick build on it, not perusing for price savings. I could probably shave a few hundred off (i.e. going for air cooling instead of liquid), but if I were going to build one for me, this is how I'd do it. Cost ended up being about on par (~$2,850) for a more powerful machine (GTX1080 > Radeon Pro 580)

Case - $49.99

CPU - $295.00

Motherboard - $114.99

RAM - $126.99

PSU - $129.67

GPU - $576.62

Storage - $139.50

Liquid cooling - $107.99

Display - $1,299.99

Total:
$2840.74

Ways to shave some off -
Look at other monitors, I didn't really hunt too much here as I'm not an expert in that field, so I just looked for a "true" color 5k. I think HP's would fit that bill at around $900 (so $400 cheaper), but I could be wrong, so I went with the more pricey one.

Go with the GTX1070 (saves about $100) or the GTX1060 (saves about $300).

Nix liquid cooling and just go with air cooled (save $107.99)

Which puts a "budget" build of this at ~$2,400, $2,000 if the HP monitor works. Plus, since it's all on Amazon, if you have their store card, -5%, so, that puts us at ~$2280 (-400 if the HP monitor fits the bill) for the budget build and $2,698.70 (-400 if the HP monitor counts) for how I'd actually build it if I were doing it for me.

You're absolutely right. I'm dumb. It's a regular 1070 superclocked. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVZBNY0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NK64Ab1GM3KA9
