Before you try baking soda, buy some vaginal ph test strips (I like these). Too much lactobacillus makes your vagina too acidic. If your vagina is not too acidic, then baking soda is not a good idea.

My ph was less than 4, which is still considered “normal” but on the acid end of the normal range.

Baking soda has a ph of 9, which is very alkaline. As well as being irritating, ultimately I wasn’t comfortable putting something so alkaline in my vagina. Sitz baths are safe because they only touch your exterior parts. Boric acid has a ph of 5, which was a gentle correction in ph for me, enough to resolve my symptoms.
