Former Peshtigo resident here. Anyone interested in the fire should also read this book . It's full of some very harrowing accounts of not only the Peshtigo fire, but other fires that occurred in that area. Also, it is worth noting that, before the fire, the wood mills of Northern Wisconsin provided timber to help build Chicago in the 1800's.
