> using the controller as a keyboard is a pain, and having a keyboard lying around the den doesn't look great. Ahh, first world problems.

Get one of these. They're great.

I haven’t used this and it isn’t a full size keyboard but it says it’s 75g

Edit: it also says a 50 day standby charge and 10 days of use charge.

With a USB to USBC adapter, any USB keyboard will work on a phone. Bluetooth ones probably work too! I'm typing this right now on my Pixel 3a using a desktop USB keyboard.

I bet something like this would work.

Hypothetically, you could probably build a mini-itx PC and use a keyboard and mouse like this and a monitor like this, and just carry it all around in some sort of specialized carrying case. It still wouldn't be anywhere near as portable as a laptop, but it's still something fun to think about.

I see. Not sure if it matters, but I bought this one last year and it's still going strong. I use it maybe once a month to troubleshoot my Nexus Player which runs Kodi whenever there's a problem and I use a Harmony Remote the rest of the time, so I don't give it heavy use. But all things considered, I am pretty impressed with how it's held up, mainly in regards to the battery still holding its charge.

I think you'd have a FAR better time using a bluetooth keyboard with your normal android phone. That way you don't need to keep and maintain 2 devices, and the keyboard is smaller and cheaper and easier to find and get than any used phone would be, plus has other uses.

Grab this and a kickstand case for your phone, or a regular tablet/phone stand, and go nuts with old PC games! Also would work if you wanted to connect/cast your phone display to your TV and play the same game seamlessly from your couch or bed on a big screen.

The VisionTek may be a good compromise. It has a nice looking IR remote side. It just looses the audio options (which I'm okay with at this point).

I really like the look of the Fosmon though. It doesn't have the IR, but it does have an independent multimedia key row that would help a great deal...

I too am considering building a little portable pi project. I have a little bluetooth keyboard that is adequate and I've seen used in many similar projects. It isn't this one, but it is very very similar. But.. It's bluetooth and I would much rather it be USB. So far I've found nothing.

Luckily the support for other remotes is great. I use this bluetooth dealy and it works perfectly, even will wake it up from sleep: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BX0YKX4

I ended up getting Fosmon Portable Lightweight Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Controller, QWERTY keypad with Built-In Touchpad (Black and Orange) and it's working great! Anyone know how to tweak the mouse sensitivity? Otherwise I've solved my problem, thanks for the suggestions!

I was struggling with this as I just purchased the firetv stick and I have an iPhone.

After sideloading the Xfinity TV app and settings.apk., this now works perfectly for me: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BX0YKX4 (alternate: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BALK9CM)

if you hold down the right mouse stick and use the trackpad, it scrolls just like the native android app is supposed to.

Yes, it's a $20 solution, but the keyboard has many uses. If there is ONE caveat, the trackpad area is small, so it can take multiple swipes to navigate the guide.

Hope that helps.

Okay to clarify further I work in the film industry on TV shows my job is to control anything that has a screen and time the animations or graphics to the actors movements I am currently using this specifically on phones like: Iphone 7, 6 over and other various android phones so what I'm wondering is how to either boost the signal or find a keyboard that doesn't use a dongle to allow me to reach 50+ ft preferably more

I've played around with plex in the past. The thing is, if I already need a PC running to be the server, what's the point of putting a client on another machine.

It would be awesome of have a media front end (or app) like plex on the PS4.

I'm definitely heading down the route of media center. Looking at either of these keyboards to control it.

Alright I got everything set up correctly and all my movies and tv shows are synced with poster art. The only thing I need is a remote. I was thinking of buying this but I am not too sure if it is connected to a USB?
