u/number9muses, you guys should both try to read the 8th chapter of this book on environmental semiotics. This chapter is written by an Orthodox priest who is comparing the panentheism of Orthodoxy, predominately focusing on st. Maximus the Confessor's writings on the Logos and the logoi, with the panentheism of the indegious Alaskan and Aleutian tradition found in their concept of the yua. There is a 200 year historical precedence for this conversation in Alaska so it's not as random as you might think.

Its not a Christian idea.
Some forms of panentheism (everything-in-god) works with Christianity, but not panentheism in the sense that God is everything and more.
This podcast series by an Orthodox priest on how God is always present and fills all things might be worth checking out

And maybe this book that compares makes the case that the Greek Fathers and the Native Alaskan animist traditions shared a similar understanding and practice of panentheism.
