I would rather recommend a book like Introduction to Logic Circuits & Logic Design with Verilog or Fundamentals of Digital Logic with Verilog Design than "The Art of Electronics".
The ease/pain of the move will be dominated by how much you know about digital logic systems- think combinational logic circuits, flip-flops, latches, mealy/Moore machines, state machines etc.

For my digital logic class, we used this textbook. It uses verilog so I'm not sure what language your class uses. I got the international edition much cheaper though, and it's exactly the same. It's pretty good book, but isn't always clear on some topics. I used YouTube quite often, particularly for k-map stuff.
