yeah DDR3. sorry, its on a asrock z97 extreme 4. I was looking into https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064DQR9U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 cause its the top pick on pcpartpicker. and is cheaper by like 50$.

is a perfectly good card for a gaming PC that is slightly above "entry level".

You could also likely find a good 16GB kit for around $120

While that guy isn't wrong about the price of GPUs going up, he IS wrong about it costing an arm and a leg for a "decent" GPU.. the "Decent" GPUs are not what Crypto miners are after and it never will be.

You don't need bleeding edge gear to enjoy PC gaming.. not even close.

If you and your buddies are serious about the idea of switching to PC, get together and talk it out amongst yourselves about it and do the research, you can get in with a solid PC for 600-750 dollars..
