There is a great book on the subject that I suggested to Jenna via DM, fb, blog comments multiple times over the years (back when I still tried to interact). It goes into this idea that 50/50 does not mean that each person works equally and does an equal share of house work. Instead, other factors like income, job responsibilities, talents, etc. come into play. So for instance, my husband makes about 50% more than I do. I try to do more of the cooking to compensate for that (I probably cook 5 days a week, he cooks 2). We split housework and childcare pretty evenly. On the other side, though, my career (academia) is much less flexible in terms of growth than his, so we make any career/geographic decisions based on my job prospects, even though he makes more money. It's a great book that really formed how we think about our responsibility split, and I really think that Jenna would benefit a lot from reading it. But of course, she never will. Maybe I should podcast it.
