I don't know much about graphics cards, but aren't the GeForce 900 series DX12?

Unless DX12 "ready" differs from DX12 "support".

u/Nashgoth · 3 pointsr/buildapc

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NH5T1MS

This is generally considered the "best" 970.

u/unpluggedriot · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I don't know about you, but I prefer just cheap monitors as it doesn't make any difference to me. This is an acer 1080P monitor for $116. As far as graphics card, maybe a 970. Actually cheaper than a 780 and 770 currently from what I can see. Here's one for $370. Don't forget you need windows and a psu, and maybe a DVD drive

You could save money and get a cheaper Cooler master hyper 212 evo or Arctic freezer i30.

Probably a cheaper case. Maybe a Rosewill Challenger U3 or a Cooler Master elite 430 or Cooler Master HAF 912

And maybe a better CPU with the money you save on those things. AMD has pretty good performance to price ratio. FX- 8350 is a lot better and only like $10 more. And is 8 core if that means anything. You can check at http://pcpartpicker.com/ to find compatibility. Most likely with the AMD processor you would need a different mobo

Save your money grab a good 970. Like this or this

Woahhhh buddy... That graphics card is totally overpriced and unnecessary. A GTX 970 will perform at the same tier, costs less and is a newer generation gpu. This is a decent one.

u/REBELSROCK99 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I recommend the Gigabyte model.

For the GPU:
In your budget

Not in your budget

Absolutely. I have two of them, well I have the G1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NH5T1MS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420152665&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40) I suggest you upgrade a bit to it.

PC PartPicker shows no compatibility issues with my MoBo and that card but there is also very limited information out there on my model. Should I be worried? Are there other compatibility checkers out there?

Oh here you go. This is what you want.

u/Lirvan · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

Could I switch out the gtx970 by evga to a different brand that's in stock?

For example, MSI or Gigabyte?

u/Spaghex · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks for the advice! Is it this card you're referring to? There seem to be a lot of variations on the single model?

u/puts-on-sunglasses · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Thanks so much for the response! Really; I've been reposting this for the past 3 days and have gotten nothing. I have a few questions:

I saw you post this on my phone before you edited and suggested a core i7. Could you tell me what you suggested before, because I am willing to go 100 over if it makes a solid amount of difference.

Also, would the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 be worth the 20 dollar price difference on the base model? I'd be willing to spend that too.

I have posted about monitors before, and I've heard that 144hz is 'worth it'. Will it really make that much of a difference? [edit: nevermind, I somehow didn't realize you mentioned it in your post]

Lastly, would USB 2.0 be a bottleneck for 802.11ac?

u/JoJo_Pose · 1 pointr/buildapc

Can a GPU feed monitors of different refresh rates?

I have this 970 and 2 1920x1200 60Hz monitors. I'm thinking of getting a third, and may spring for a 1080p 144Hz screen (unless there's a 1920x1200 144Hz out there somewhere).

Would I run into any issues?

u/iphilip13 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I like my Strix, because it's quiet, and overclocks AWESOME as well. The Gigabyte G1 Is also a solid choice, but it is bulkier and a bit more expensive, at the advantage of (sometimes) greater overclocks. I can tell you though, heat will not be a problem in either case

u/AXP878 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd get the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970, and for the amount you're spending on CPU and Motherboard you would be much better off with Intel.

u/1917211198 · 1 pointr/battlestations

The Nvidia Geforce GTX 900 series are the best choices right now. Galax GTX 970 and Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 are the best choises, or if you like the looks of the reference card you can get it from Best Buy if you live in USA, or from here.

u/saintsfan1622000 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I suppose you're talking about that GPU?

The specs say it requires a minimum 550 watt PSU, so you may want to upgrade to a 600 watt or so.

The card will fit in a R4.

11.61" (295mm) With Drive Cages
16.93" (430mm) Without Drive Cages

Card is 12.28" (312mm), so you'll have to move the top drive cage, but it will fit.

u/Thatslyb · 1 pointr/buildapc

$510? Arent the 970s all between 300-400? I know I looked ag a gigabyte version that was like 350 with the rest of them. The 970 is bounds and leaps better for the money. But that sounds high.

Edit: so I think someone is trying to rip you off. I just searched the card you named. 350 from amazon (didnt check newegg just googled). And prime.

Is this look good to you? I have one in good condition that looks like this https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Gaming-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00NH5T1MS

u/Valadrius · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is this card compatible with my current hardware? Is there a better alternative to this card?

Video card: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N970G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00NH5T1MS

Current specs: http://imgur.com/XdLpWoF

Also, if I were to replace my old gpu with the gtx 970 I posted, overclock my cpu to something like 4.5GHz, would my Antec EarthWatts EA-650 Green 650 Watt 80 PLUS BRONZE Power Supply provide enough power?
If not, what would be a good replacement?

One more question, what is a good monitor for this card for $100-$250? 1080p/ high refresh rate

u/mcKempt · 1 pointr/buildapc

I was pricing the GTX 970 it seems, lol

This was about the GTX 780; my bad!

Edit: Wait, did OP change the question? If so, here is Amazon's listing for the GTX 970. It's $360.

Edit Edit: Um, you're OP. Why are you looking at AU prices, anyways? If you're American...

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/buildapc

That peak FPS is pretty low for PS2 on that build; what resolution are you using? Turning shadows to Medium and, if your resolution is high (at least 1920x1080), setting Render Quality to 75 might help a lot without looking too bad.

I don't know if PS2 uses enough threads for more cores to help, but the extra cache (and, less, the slightly faster clock) in this chip will make a difference when there's a lot going on. PS2 has so much to think about that it's always going to be bound on going to memory, so cache is king.

If you still want it to be prettier then just throw pixel throughput at the problem until it goes away. You're going to need more power, though.

u/escape_your_destiny · 1 pointr/buildapc

You might want to choose a different 970, that one has a reference cooler, which can be kinda noisy. Look at the Gigabyte 970 G1, that is a great card.

This one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NH5T1MS/?tag=pcpapi-20

It's a big card, make sure it fits your case.

u/Nutshell38 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ah that is quite a difference! I found this one that is actually slightly cheaper than my original choice. It has zero 1-star reviews which is great. Although the fact that it's ~$100 cheaper than many of the other 970 offerings makes me a bit weary. I know that more expensive doesn't always mean better, but this is quite a gap. Is the zotac just a lower quality build? Or am I missing out on features that might be in something like the Gigabyte G1?

u/chimera765 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Just purchased a Gigabyte 970 and I see it has a 6pin+8pin config for power delivery.

I can't seem to find a connector that looks compatible. Would THIS 6+2pin work? Or would a typical 8pin like THIS work?

u/tps222 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I just recently purchased a Gigabyte GTX970 and I love it. The 3 fans really keep it cool under stress, but it is around 11 inches long (I'm sorry I don't know metric >.<) so case space may be an issue. I think it's the best bang for the buck currently. http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N970G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00NH5T1MS/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1418768493&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+970

u/raava_ · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm pretty sure you can get the gaming g1 for the same price on amazon

edit: yup you can

u/penguinzrock · 1 pointr/buildapc

You really can't go wrong with a Gigabyte 970 G1 unless you have spacing issues in your case.

u/nFbCrusader · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is the GTX 970 Windforce a good pick? Or should I go with another GTX 970 card.

Changes:

u/Swyteh · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd go for this gpu http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NH5T1MS/?tag=pcpapi-20

and I have a total budget of 1.2k but the less it costs the better it is.

Should I go windows 8 or 7 ? I prefer 7 but if 8 has a lot of advantages i'll go for it.

u/cyjake111 · 1 pointr/buildapc

MSI, Gigabyte, Asus all use superior parts in their gpus.

EVGA runs louder and hotter than these 3 but its customer support is GODLY. Brand loyalty actually matters then the customer support is this freaking good.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx970gaming4g

This is my personal favorite.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-strixgtx970dc2oc4gd5

Is what i have. Overclocks a little less than the msi but it's still a beast.

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N970G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00NH5T1MS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417317698&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+gtx+970

This is the gigabyte model. It's got a tri cooler design and it's suppose to be a beast when it comes to oc and cooling. 3 fans though means it's a little louder but that's it. oh yea. it's long. like super long.

u/n00basaur · 1 pointr/buildapc

This one, which says G1 gaming explicitly on the box.

u/Divilus · 1 pointr/buildapc

Doesn't the 980 cost like 200$ more? or will the whole thing cost the same if i buy it in amazon?

GTX 980

GTX 970

...260$ difference for some speeds...

What do you think of the "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming" http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N970G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00NH5T1MS

u/GottaLetItBern · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

One of the GTX 970s.

Gigabyte's Windforce edition comes to mind as having a similar cooler.

u/sid923 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks for the heads up! Is Gigabyte GTX970 better?

u/zer0zz0 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Which has better performance per dollar, a used G1 GTX 970 for $200 or 1070 for $379?

Is $200 for the G1 a fair price? They seem to be $320 new.

u/SkoobyDoo · 1 pointr/factorio

I have a 970 I was supposed to return (Used it a month and then the 10 series came out, amazon authorized the full refund but I never sent it =[ ) that I would probably be willing to part with for a good deal if you're not on the far side of the moon, shipping wise.

It's literally in the original packaging and IIRC should even still have all the original DVI/HDMI/DP plugs that they ship new cards with.

u/BioticAsariBabe · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hm, ok, are those specialty or are they on all their reference cards?

Edit: NVM this is what you were talking about?

u/andrehebra · 0 pointsr/hardwareswap

Just saying, if your looking to sli your rig id recommend the 970's. They have better performance and they are often cheaper that the 780's. I have two 970's in my machine and I can play 4k games on great settings with high fps...

This is the best 970 out there now: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Gaming-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00NH5T1MS/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1426037007&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+970

u/Serei · 0 pointsr/Android

You're the one who called it the "same card".

> Nvidia or AMD releases a chip and then many manufacturers release the same card at different price points. asus, msi, evga, pny, gigabyte, all release nvidia cards.

I was just disagreeing with the "different price points" part, because their price points are pretty similar.

$350 - EVGA GTX 970 4GB

$354 - ASUS GTX 970 4GB

$360 - Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB
