I too have fine hair which gets greasy within a day, and I know firsthand that not everyone's hair eventually adjusts to be less greasy. I'd recommend a powder dry shampoo (I like Blow Pro, or Giovanni Powder Power), and a leave in conditioner on the ends.
I put a little powder dry shampoo on before bed, to let it soak in through the night, and then re-do it in the morning for volume. To be honest, I still get powder under my fingernails if I scratch my head. I'm sure I could spend a longer time combing it out, but I think it's the build-up that helps the hair "stand up" a bit and appear perky.
