> No one knows God's name

...Well, actually...

There are several gods incorporated into the supposedly "one" god of the bible.

Check out a "Names of God" bible for a list of the names that the Hebrews used for their god[s]. Many of those names were originally Canaanite, & applied to one or more of the gods of their polytheistic belief system.

And you can use this link to look at pages ix & x of the translation, which lists the actual names of god used in it:

You might be interested in the Names of God Bible by Ann Spangler. Based on the God's Word translation (GW), it isn't quite up to the high standards of NASB or NRSV... but it's not bad, and it does preserve the original names of God as given in the underlying text. For instance, it renders Isaiah 12:1-2 as

> At that time you will say,
>
>“I will praise you, O Yahweh.
Although you had been angry with me,
you turned your anger away from me, and you comforted me.
2 Look! El is my Savior.
I am confident and unafraid,
because Yah is my strength and my song.
He is my Savior.”

You can buy it on Amazon, or you can look up individual verses (like the above) for free at BibleGateway. I use it regularly as a supplemental translation.

There's the Names of God Bible, which I think does that, but I'm not sure if it replaces Jesus with Yeshua.

This one's based on the GWT translation. There's also a KJV one. There are probably others: the Editor seems to be the same, and she's got other books on it, too. Look her up, I guess.

----

Oh. Here it is on BibleGateway. Looks like it does use Yeshua instead of Jesus.

It looks like it's based on the GWT, so it's almost certainly only the smaller canon. The KJV one might concievably include the Apocrypha—or maybe there's another version. The editor at least seems to have published some books specifically for a Catholic audience, so it might exist somewhere.

Also: A rose by any other name... ;) (I do think there's value in disambiguating all the various titles of God. I don't see any value personally on insisting on "Yeshua" instead of "Jesus", though. But who am I to judge someone else's servant.)
