It can really vary not only on the charger but the quality of the USB cable.
I got a Shield K1 a few weeks ago. I ordered the following charger and USB cables:
I'm charging at around 2.4ish Amps when the tablet has the cover closed (i.e. screen off). Your charge rate will obviously be less if you're trying to charge while using the screen, wifi, under heavy load, etc... Don't have it with me to tell you exactly the charge time but I believe I go from almost dead to full charge in maybe 3 hours. EDIT - Not sure about that 3 hours. Actually might be faster. Haven't been paying too close attention to total time. In the GeForce thread below people seem to be saying just over an hour for full charge.
The tablet does appear to support the Qualcomm Quick Charge standard so it benefits from this charger. Both the charger and the device have to support QuickCharge to reap the benefits.

It sucks that USB is supposed to be a standard and yet results vary so much. In theory you should be able to grab any cable and any charger of appropriate output and get standard results...but it's just not the case. With my N7 2012, using stock charger, I would get anywhere from 400mA up to 1.2ish A just depending on the USB cable I was using (wire gauge plays a big part apparently). And with add-on technologies / protocols like Qualcomm Quick Charge it just fragments the standardization of USB charging even more.
Hey, I've seen some guys rock the hell out of make-up. And, y'know, women who know their tech.
However, your assumptions about me not knowing tech is somewhat founded in this case. I did a google search on which Micro USB's were best and I was reading something about how 28/28 was bad and how 24/28 was better. So on Amazon I found "Extra-thick 21 gauge charging and 28 gauge data transfer cables" and made an educated guess that 21 gauge was good. Also, it came with warranty and had great reviews. Coincidentally, it was Anker!
Thanks for your comment and happy holidays :)
