It builds on the work of Laird Wilcox, whose Crying Wolf (PDF) is the original book on this subject. The recent book Hate Crime Hoax also adds to Wilcox's work. Watching the Watchdogs is very useful, and so is Fake Hate Map.

Fake hate crimes happen. Accept it. Even the ADL themselves say these are just 'reported' to them -- not investigated, not confirmed, not anything.
In other words, claims went up. It cannot be used for the conclusion they actually happened.

I typed in "swastika" into fakehatecrimes.org search and got a hundred results of blacks and jews who falsely reported a swastika they drew themselves.

There's a website that compiles fake hate crimes.
Someone wrote a book on the subject.
There are articles written about it and there was just the High Profile case of Jussie Smollet.
There are scenarios involving swastikas.
And they often don't know how to draw swastikas.
