I have been using the Logitech G430 for about 8 months now for PC gaming and love them.

I feel like you can’t leave out the Hyper X Cloud II when talking about headphones. Have been nothing but great for me!

u/KodiakmH · 5 pointsr/Vive

http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

That's the one I got. They're awesome.

The biggest reason I love this headset is how they're designed with the cord. Basically it's a USB jack into a headset control (headset volume, mic volume) that then has a plug for a 3.5mm jack. That 3.5mm jack is what connects the headset. What's cool about that is you can use it for anything that uses it. Like for example I can plug that into my smartphone and use the speakers/mic on it. I can also unplug the mic to the earphones entirely if I'm not using it which is pretty cool.

The nice part about this functionality, however, is it can directly plug with a shorter wire directly into the Vive and work well. I haven't tested to see if it picks up the mic however. Over all has worked very well though and thoroughly enjoying it. Also the cord is massive so if you keep it plugged in to the PC, depending on your setup, it should work fairly nice for length if you want to keep it that way too.

Super comfortable. Fits great. Optional velvet pads instead. Few color options. I did probably a week of research trying to find a replacement for my G930 headset I was tired of breaking (always same spot) and this is what I came up with. I looked at the Steel Series super expensive ones and it's the same plastic option which always breaks. These are metal band so you don't got that issue, super comfortable, and pretty great. They were reviewed so well that I decided to get them over a wireless option and it hasn't been bad at all.

u/GreasyPeter · 4 pointsr/techsupportmacgyver

Buy a new one with a metal headband and as much metal as you can get. Will stop cracking after moderate use for a year. Here, try this. I used to buy Logitech because their return policy is great but after a while, it's nice to have one that doesn't break after 6-12 months of use.

u/douche_flute · 4 pointsr/PS4

I’m not sure how loud you can get the headphones to be, but I think you can get louder results if you use a headset that has a USB sound card like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-HSCP-GM/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

I have this headset and I love it.

HyperX Cloud 2

https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

I love my pair. Has both USB connection for 7.1 sound and a regular 3.5mm connector to plug into anything else. Microphone is also de-tatchable so if you don't use it all the time you don't need to have it in your face.

u/dat_inja · 3 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

Try some Hyper X II clouds. They are higher quality than razer and sound better. They are 7.1 surround sound and they are very comfortable! I personally own a pair and love them

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1500612429&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=hyper+x+2+cloud&dpPl=1&dpID=41S2zq6yZ-L&ref=plSrch

They are listed at $98 but they frequently dip in price. I got mine for $70 a couple months ago. The small increase in price over the razer is worth it. The razer headphones are not the highest quality

u/beesk · 3 pointsr/xboxone

I ordered these after talking with /u/HyperX-Felinni. They're delivering tomorrow but every review I read made it seem like these are the best.

u/bfhurricane · 3 pointsr/PS4

I bought the HyperX Cloud II last month for Overwatch and recommend them. Crisp sound, good mic, and very comfortable. You can use them one of two ways, by either using the provided adapter to plug it directly into a USB port on the PS4, which allows for both surround sound and volume control, or plugging them into the controller, which gives you no surround sound and stays at one volume. I stick them right into the controller, they sound perfect, but you simply won't be able to control the headset volume if you do that. I don't consider it an issue though.

By the way, I decided on them based on previous /r/ps4 threads on the same topic, they seem to be a popular choice.

u/badillin · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Id ask you to STRONGLY consider spending an extra $15 and get the Hyper X Cloud 2, they are currently on sale for $65 (down from $99)

And they are the best gaming headset for the price (at $99 so at $65 it really is a good deal )

I'm rocking the hyper x cloud 2s. They are the only over ear headset I've ever been comfortable with through long use. Also they regularly go on sale for 60-70 bucks.

HyperX Cloud 2 excellent sound, overall great buy.

Sadly not RGB, but its basically got all that you're looking for.

u/RadiantSun · 3 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

> There is plenty of reason to buy a gaming headset.

No, there is precisely one reason to buy a gaming headset i.e. you don't want to deal with two cables.... in which case, you can buy a passthrough mic, which still has better quality than the Cloud2

> and way cheaper than buying a ton of high end shit for marginally better sound.

A) "A bunch" = buy 2 things instead of 1, and plug 1 into the other. Ok.

B)

  • HyperX Cloud2: $95

  • Passthrough mic + Monoprice 8323 = $55

    > If my mic breaks i just take it out and attach a new one.

The problem is not with the external mic accessory, the problems arrive internally, as is wont to happen when you mic two things you shouldn't be mixing.
u/Kasendou · 3 pointsr/xboxone

Best value headset near your price range is going to be the HyperX Cloud II's (Usually $70-85, depending on sale/vendor/discounts.)

Could be an issue with discord, but if you are in t he market for new headphones, I recommend the HyperX Cloud2. https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

They sound great, plug into USB with no issue, and are PLENTY loud. Also work on a large noggin such as mine and cover my sizable ears with no issues.

u/caticuss14 · 2 pointsr/PS4

The HyperX Clouds are pretty good (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KX3TLF4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496807260&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=hyperx+cloud&dpPl=1&dpID=41KFerym3bL&ref=plSrch). The HyperX clouds have a little box on the cord that you can switch the mute on/off and adjust volume. They also have a new version: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=psdcmw_172487_t1_B00KX3TLF4 . I haven't personally used the second version but apparently they have better audio quality. And you can't go wrong with the PlayStation Gold headset. It has the app so you can fiddle with the bass, treble etc. I personally prefer how the HyperX clouds feel on my head (the gold headset feels heavier but that may just be me).

u/sekazi · 2 pointsr/nintendo

That is a weird discount. It saved $8.63. I did not use it for an eShop card but instead for a Kingston HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset It came out to be an even $93. It also gave me free 1 day shipping which was unusual.

And I think they're great. Haven't had them for more than a day yet but they've been doing great.

u/DyLaNzZpRo · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

HyperX Cloud II, arguably the best well priced headset, detachable mic, from what I've heard they're comfortable, as well as the sound quality is pretty good, the 2nd version is almost identical, just it has more connection options and a few nice little tweaks, completely a positive difference from what I've heard, and it also includes a USB soundcard.

Given, headphones + a standalone mic will always win, but these are pretty damn good for the price.

u/el-bori · 2 pointsr/PS4

Hello,

I don't know ıf it works on xbox or not but HyperX Cloud II headset is pretty good. Even some of my friends changed their kraken and Siberian 350 to this one. I have this also. One of the best budget headset with good comfortable earpads and mic. Don't be disctracted by fancy good looking led view of headphones. probably you will be using this hours and hours so you have to choose a headset witch a good comfortable pads. Hyperx Cloud 2 is to go.
I hope i could help :).

u/ToastyEthan · 2 pointsr/PS4

I have both. The Hyper X are plug and play or usb wired. They are WAY better built, come with both pleather and velour ear cups and sound better.

I'd get the pair of headphones. if you need an integrated mic the HyperX Cloud IIs are great

IF you don't need the intergrated mic or would rather spend extra for a desktop mic then the AudioTechnica ATH M50x's are amazing.

Also holy shit the HD 558s are dirt cheap right now

u/Lordmau5 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I've heard good things about the HyperX Cloud 2 gaming headset.
Personally, I will never go for a headset again.
Rather a Headphones + Mic combo.

But I was about to buy those as well, since reviews were good, too :)

I love my mouse. The only thing is that it is kinda heavier compared to other mouses. For headset, I would suggest getting something like an M40x and a modmic. This way, you'll get better sound and a better microphone. Unless you want a headset then I would say the Cloud II.

The Cloud II. If you can't wait for it to go below 100 $, it is worth the extra 12 $, IMO. It is awesome. And comfortable: I wear it all day without any discomfort.

Here it is at Amazon.ca for 112 $CA

The only USB headset I'm familiar with is the HyperX Cloud 2. Well, it's an analog headset but it comes with a USB dongle which features an optional surround sound feature. I own the original HyperX Cloud, which are really comfortable and become even more comfortable once you throw HM5 pads on them (although this isn't necessary as stock comfort is pretty good) and the Mark II are slightly more comfortable than the originals. So yeah, these are what I would recommend; they're inexpensive, comfortable, and as a bonus you can use them as a decent pair of analog headphones since the mic is also detachable.

Just to be clear, audio technica or akg is probably the best for gaming. The audio technica closed back have a microphone attachment

HyperX Cloud II
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_IaqXBb4TTS9S9

Audio-Technica ATH-M30x https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HVLUQW8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4kqXBb99HCP84

This should be fine for games but Im picky about sound so id go up to the 50x which is double the price. Balanced sound and decent noise isolation makes this entire line the default pick for music, just dont expect to sleep through a stabbing on the floor above you. Im told that the ath50x is the preferred headphones in recording studios

AKG K240STUDIO Semi-Open Studio Headphones
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001ARCFA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_MmqXBbQ0PFQ44

These akg headphones is what I have for gaming and music both. Best value per dollar imo but zero noise isolation. More balanced sound than the open back audio technica headphones which has irreperably weak bass.

The akg ones also have a classic style if thats your thing, where the HyperX looks like youre at the gun range

I'm definitely not an audiophile, I actually rarely ever listen to music but I do spend 4-6hrs a day gaming or watching tv/movies. Before I did much research I fell into the trap of buying a gaming headset and bought the wireless Corsair Void RGB 7.1 surround sound. They're not bad especially for the price ($45 from a coworker) but lately I've been wanting to invest into something that gives me more of a competitive advantage in fps games with a better soundstage.

I bought the Open-Back Virtual 7.1 Sennheiser 373D which I've been using for the past week and have been liking. The open back experience wasn't a huge change for me but it's still a quality headset I believe. With blackfriday sales going on I've also been looking at the HyperX Cloud II's on sale for $65 and the Arctis 7's for $100. I know people say not to use virtual 7.1 but I really do find it helps in locating players who may be above or below you in a building.

Alternatively, I just recently discovered modmic which opens up the possibility for more audiophile headphones since I was against a desktop mic before and was considering trying out Beardynamic DT990 or a nicer pair of open-back Sennheiser like the HD6xx or similar.

2 things idk why that one is listed for $200 and I got mine for $50 two different times, pretty sure they go on sale a lot. The 780 and 788 are the same thing pretty sure the 788 just has a longer cord, 788 wasnt in stock when I was buying tho.

Here is a vid I found from a while back showing the prices in the description, when I bought the 780 the first time.

Amazon.com has the HyperX Cloud II for $75.97. It says PC & PS4 but it'll work just fine with the Xbox One. It's a great headset and even better at that price point!

u/Lightsout565 · 2 pointsr/xboxone

HyperX Cloud II. I've personally owned the HyperX Cloud 2's for over a year and they're amazing. They're a little over your budget, as the cheapest price I found online was about $100, but they're well worth it. If you search around the subreddit, you'll see these are very popular and highly regarded. You can also look at the HyperX CloudX. These came out after I purchased my Cloud 2's, but these add an additional inline volume and mic mute control to the cable. They appear to the be exactly the same as the Cloud II's in every respect otherwise. I do really miss having an easily accessible mute switch in my Cloud 2's to quickly mute the mic in certain situations. You also get a hardshell carrying case which is nice, my Cloud 2's only came with a cheaper soft shell pouch.

u/KardnalSyn · 2 pointsr/xboxone

These come very well regarded from my understanding. You will just need either a newer controller with the 3.5 mm jack or the Xbox chat adapter.

u/kobekitty · 2 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I do! My old glasses pinched behind my ears, so I needed larger ones too that didn't put additional pressure on them. I have the HyperX Cloud II - the ear pad things are large and soft, yet cancel out noise quite well. And the mic is detachable so I take it off if I'm out in public :P

My fiance did a lot of research and bought a "good" headset, but he's been having issues with it and often borrows mine, he loves it too! His only complaint is that mine sound a little tinny, but apparently that can be fixed somehow. I have never noticed that personally.

u/Olocool17 · 2 pointsr/Planetside

Performance wise, it looks pretty good! As others have said in this thread, the only thing that you can improve would be your cooling paste and removing your kind of pointless wired network adapter.

Now, for a bit of personal input on your pheripherals ;

Please, for the love of god don't buy the Devestator bundle. CM storm has really good products but the devestator isn't one of them. You'd better buy a CM storm Quickfire (I have the Ultimate one myself) and a mouse of your choice (G502 seems like a good option)

You may also want to have a mousepad but you probably have on of those. If not, just buy a Qck from Steelseries, they're very cheap & popular.

I also don't really recommend buying a headest ; all these popular 'gaming' brands are really pushing them recently but your best option is to pick some headphones and then attach a microphone on it yourself (HD668B and a ModMic/BoomMic)

However, there is one headset I know that's probably your best bet if you don't want to do all that, the HyperX Cloud II.

I realise these alternatives may be pretty costly to you, but either way I hope I helped!

u/Basher5155 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'm at work anyway so time flies here. :P

Do you need a mic with the headset? If so, we might go back to gaming-based headsets because they have one built-in.

One gaming headset that's 'pretty good' and has all the features with mics and all is the Hyper X Cloud.
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ/

Going back to Audiophile headphones, a step-down from what I purchased:
https://www.amazon.com/Technica-AUD-ATHAD500X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S333U4

That's an open-back headphone again, suitable for FPS games which you play too. You'll love playing Battlefield with it as well, hearing those gunshots whiz by. Big downside for open-back headphone is the bass is not that good.

Close-backed ones are, the opposite. One good headphone is :
https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M40x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR54
You're going to love the bass on this one, especially on intense gaming moments.

Another choice is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L1IIF1K/ref=psdc_172541_t1_B01L1IIEKM

Overall, there's a lot of headphones out there that might suit your needs. Those ones encloses your ears so they're pretty big. So feel free to research about these audiophile headphones that will work for you.

Cheap as it how much? For 100 bucks I would say it hard to beat the Hyperx Cloud 2. They are currently on sale for 65.. Well worth it https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480102664&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

I am perfectly aware that other countries exist. (And I know what you are trying to say. Many people forget that online, people come from all over the world) Also I play a lot of online games and talk to people all over the world, I'm also well aware that most Europeans are very blunt and come off as assholes to others. I don't dislike that.

But it's not just the USA. It's the same in Canada, the UK, Australia. Basically everywhere there is an Amazon or any other large online distribution.

Using your link: https://www.amazon.es/gp/aw/d/B00SAYCVTQ

That's 85 not 50 (I'm not sure if there is an added shipping charge or not, but probably is)

If you got them for 50, that's called a sale. You can't compare a sale price (and very good sale at that) to the full price of another piece of hardware.

https://www.amazon.es/gp/aw/d/B00HVLUQW8

Something like this + a modmic would come out to around 100 euros or so. Only 15 euro more and again better headphones and better mic and the added freedom with upgrading.

Of course nothing would beat a insanely good sale on a hyperX cloud.

You can go over to /r/headphones and probably get even better recommendations than I could ever provide.

u/ScrumpyZebra · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Desk: IKEA Linnmon/Oddvald. Pretty solid desk for the price, although leg room is a bit lacking, probably upgrading soon.

Chair: DXRacer Formula Series, really helped my posture and got rid of my back pain. Plus I'm a huge gear-head so it's very much my style.

Keyboard: Das Keyboard Professional w/ Brown Switches. This keyboard is fantastic, it's a treat to use every day, feels buttery smooth to type on and build quality is superb. I also have a CM Quickfire Ultimate that I use at work, also browns.

Mouse: Zowie EC2-A. Replaced my old Logitech G400 when it started intermittently cutting out, I think I like this mouse even more.

Mousepad: SteelSeries QcK+ for all that low DPI goodness.

Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II. I love this headset, it's super comfortable and has good directional sound.

Speakers: Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 FFP. I use my headset mainly but these are good enough for when I need them.

Monitors: BenQ XL2411Z flanked by two ASUS VS247H-P mounted on an Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand. Finally got the monitor stand this year after using two boxes to hold up my side monitors for far too long. However, the BenQ is probably my favorite purchase out of all of these, would've bought three if it served any real benefit to me.

Random Peripherals: uxcell extended power switch. I keep my computer under my desk so this is handy so I don't have to crouch under my desk to turn on my computer.

Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.0 5-Port PCI Express Card. My motherboard came with a fairly low number of USB ports so this allows me to plug in my printer and external hard drive, etc.

u/QuantumTweaker · 1 pointr/Twitch

The AT2020 is an amazing mic for the price. I run the XLR version of the mic and I am not regretting it one bit. I ran with an Astro a50 headset till it was overwhelmed with a static issue and i gave up on it.

You want to ease into streaming, there is no need to go off an buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment^maybeoverexaggerated if you end up stopping in a month or two, like what /u/westleysnipez said: you're going to kick yourself.

A decent headset with a microphone will work. The HyperX Cloud II I've heard is pretty decent and has a decent mic on it. - Watched Kyle from Awesomesauce do a review on it.

u/EnglishTimelord · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

That link is I think from /g/, so it has that kind of tact to it.

However 5.1 and 7.1 headsets are pure gimmicks, stereo is great. Here, Here and Here are examples of what can be done through stereo in regards to positional sound.

For a mic you could use this and for the headphones these, these, these, these or these. Headsets that don't completely suck are these or these.

u/Hellsragev2 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

You could always get the AntLion Mod Mic and attach them to a good set of headphones. That way you don't have to sacrifice sound quality.

But if you must have a headset, the only ones I can recommend are the HyperX Cloud II, they aren't out yet(Feb. 9th). I suspect Logan from Tech Syndicate and Linus from LinusTechTips will both get review samples so hopefully they're have a review on release day.

u/Eccentrica_Gallumbit · 1 pointr/HelpMeFind

Not wireless, but for a wired one I just bought the Hyper cloud 2 last week when it was the "deal of the day" on Amazon, and it should fit the bill. In order to mute on Xbox, you need the chat headset adapter, which will set you back another $30. Sound is amazing on the xbox anyway.

I don't believe xbox allows bluetooth headsets, so you may be stuck with wired anyway.

u/spdyrel · 1 pointr/playstation

Was going to post this so I'll just add a link here: Amazon

u/OMGitsDSypl · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Amazon has the HyperX Cloud II headphones on sale for $65, and I'm tempted to upgrade from my current Letton headset. Would there be a significant quality boost that justifies me dropping money on another headset? Ignore the mic quality since I'm using an external mic, I just care about the audio when it comes to gaming or music.

u/slickt0mmy · 1 pointr/buildapc

HyperX Cloud II's seem to have the best overall rating of any "gaming" headsets I've seen in my research. The Virtual 7.1 sound is fairly gimmicky but even without that it's a solid product. I've owned them for about a year and have absolutely no complaints.

Don't get Razer headsets. Trust me. I and many others have had bad experiences with Razer products.

I would recommend the Logitech G430, which is a very popular choice. You can find it for 50-90 USD on Newegg or Amazon, and it has pretty good audio quality as well.

If you would like something for some better quality, but a little more of a cost, I also recommend the HyperX Cloud II

Message me if you need any more recommendations for cheaper or better quality headphones (:

personally? a40s. always have, i had one of the higher end turtle beaches in the mw2 era and those were good but broke in about a year and a half so got myself a set of a40s and they've been good ever since however i've heard [these] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-Mobile/dp/B00SAYCVTQ) are a good budgetable gaming headset however you may need to look into if they work with your xbox, you might have to get the xbox adaptor thing.

$100 plus the $25 headset adapter and you're way under budget and you have an awesome headset. You're welcome.

u/Herculefreezystar · 1 pointr/headphones

I am looking for headphones with a budget of around $100. My only real priority is that they let me "hear" myself talk while I play PC games with my friends. Similar to how you can hear youself talk in normal life when having a conversation with another person. With or without a mic is fine, I can go out and buy a mic if I have to.

I have been using Turtle Beach headphones for the past 6ish years I am looking for something new that will last me a white longer. I have a goddamn huge head and the Turtle beachs always crack on me after a year or so. I am tired of having to buy a new headset everytime this happens. I bought a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LPs early last winter but returned them after a week or two because the leathery earcups make my ears sweat even in the winter and also made me unable to hear myself.. Similar to when your ears are stopped up and you sound like you are talking with your head in a glass jar. It drives me fucking crazy when this happens and I have the tendency to yell when I can't hear myself. I don't want to bother everyone else around me all the time so being able to hear myself is a priority. Other than the inability to hear myself the V-Moda headphones were the nicest headphones I have ever owned and I wish I could have kept them to play videogames with.

The only non Turtle Beach headset I have ever bought was a pair of Razer Carcharias and I liked them a lot. They were light and while they did not "play my voice back to me" the way the Turtle Beach headphones claim to do the felt/velour earcups did allow me to hear myself so I yelled less which was super nice for the year or so I had them.

I have looked into getting the Kingston Hyper X II headset and I have read they are just rebranded Takstar headphones. I don't know really anything about fancy headphones other than the company names. I don't know if being rebranded Takstar headphones means that is a good thing or not. It comes with an extra pair of velour earcups that maybe will fix the issue I have. If anyone knows that would elaborate on that for me that would be fucking awesome.

If there are any other options out there that are bette inside my price range I would be really appreciative to know. My current pair of Turtle Beach PX22s broke the same way my old sets did last night and now I am in the hunt for a new headset.

---

TL;DR I need a headset that allows me to hear myself and the things in real life that are happening around me so I don't shout and disturb the people around me while I play games with my friends. Budget is around $100.

u/wenaus · 1 pointr/headphones

So you're saying this guy is good for PC gaming (need a good mic for Discord as well).

Also, would that have the ability to remove the microphone, and plug in a 3.5mm cable into my headphones and wear them as normal headphones around town?

u/jbramont · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

These headphones + This mic would give you better quality than any of the headsets you mentioned.

You don't have to go with that exact pairing, that is only a popular example at a great entry price.

Decent headphones + mic, will be better than any "gaming" headset, in both sound quality in gaming, and in voice quality for chatting.

If you must go with a gaming headset, this is the best you'll get.

As far as mouse mats go if you're spending $30 on an XL mat because it has corsair or razer on it you're doing it wrong, they're all made the same with exception to the rbg mouse pads because you know..lights and shit. Cloud ii's are on sale right now. There are a lot of people that will tell you gaming headsets are trash. While you can get better headphones, it really isn't that big of a deal for some people (myself included) and the all in one option is great.

The cloud series is absolutely fantastic. Linus gave it his "stuff that doesn't suck" award, and I wholeheartedly agree.

u/skiskate · 1 pointr/Vive

The headphones in the Vive are going to be fairly high quality and much more practical then any over the ear headphones (having to deal with an additional cable)

But If you do need a set of headphones right now, I would advise against the 633's and look at a pair of HyperX Cloud II's. They are very similar to the 633's except better in just about every way. Also they are on sale for $50 off right now. They are also super comfortable.

I don't own a pair but I recommend them to almost anybody buying a 7.1 surround headset.

u/Lawson_Grey · 1 pointr/gaming

Hyper X Cloud 2

I listened to all the advice a while back when asking the same question. I bought a nice set of headphones and then an extra mic. The end result is you have 2 cords to get tangled up in now instead of 1. It's a pain.

These headphones are not only SUPER SUPER comfy to wear for long periods of time, but the mic detaches. That's huge. That means you can detach the mic and wear them out in public like normal headphones without looking like a dweeb with the mic on it.

They also look nice and arn't overly "GAMER" with loud colors and crap. Def. go with these.

dont skimp on the headset, if anything stick with speakers and a 5 dollar stand alone mic until you can afford a good one. i highly recommend these you really cant beat them for the price. Everything down to the packaging makes them feel like they are worth twice as much.

Budget: I'd like to be around $150, but $200 is max.

Source: I will be plugging into my mobo (Asus Z97M Plus), I don't mind using either USB or analog.

Isolation: Since I live in the south, the A.C is run throughout most of the year and is fairly loud. A good deal of isolation would be nice, but isn't a deal breaker. I'm only going to be using these headphones in my room on my custom pc.

Type: Full sized only please, must have microphone and not wireless/batteries.

Tone: Well this is kinda difficult, I do love listening to music and I love to have great clarity when pc gaming. Being able to hear enemy footsteps would be great, but isn't the end of the world if I can't. On the other hand, being able to enjoy my almost 70GB loseless album rips would be awesome, if not more important than hearing footsteps, but only slightly.

Past/current headphones: The ones i'm using right now are my Gamescon 780, they've been by far my best headphones. But I've heard from all range of sources that there are other vastly superior headsets. I love love love being able to have low volumes and hear YouTube videos clearly and play games at the same volume still clear and when I want to rock out turning the volume to max/high and being fully immersed in the experience. For example right now when I just want to browse the internet/watch videos I have my audio at ~10%, and when I play games I usually bump it up to around 25%, and when I want to rock out I bring it up to about 50% and gradually go higher, so much so I can't hear anything else. Basically volume is a big thing for me, I really really really like slight percentages in volume making a huge difference, and these headphones are the first to be able to give me that experience. I also love that the mic quality for me has been exceptional from my past experience. I love how clear it is. I've had these for about maybe 3 years now and they're very sturdy which isn't a big problem but again from my past experience I've never had a pair last me this long.

Preferred music: I'm a huge metal-head, but I do dabble in all kinds of music, but my main preference is metal, mainly melodic death but again I dabble in everything. Example 1 Example 2.

Additional information: It would be nice to have a long cable, if not I can buy an extension online too. My current headset is apparently 6ft or 6.5ft (doesn't feel like it), and it's just baaarely a comfortable length from the back of my mobo.

All replies are welcome, I know I did say some subjective stuff about my current headset please keep in mind that I only said that from the types of headsets I've owned before that were far worse. It's currently my favorite, but I know there are tons better, and I'd like to upgrade to better. I was able to research that these would be great. But i'm no expert on headsets.

Okay, I will have to try the warm water thing this weekend, thanks!

Taking breaks is a good idea, although I still want to play the game so my breaks will probably just be PvE or private match 1v1s/rumble. I will look into incorporating that more often.

These are the headphones I am currently using. They are super comfortable but I don't think they are closed back, I can still hear everything pretty well when I have them on. This is the other pair I own. These ones have good sound quality and get quite a bit louder than my other pair, but they are pretty uncomfortable to wear for longer than an hour. I have glasses, and they press them into the side of my head, which is not very pleasant after awhile. I would prefer to not have to buy a new set of headphones, but I might have to if they can help with this.

u/IM_PRISON-MIKE · 1 pointr/headphones

Hello all! Wanted some advice/info on this. I am mostly gaming but also will be using for some listening to music. I was looking to get HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset (https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ) but also discovered Sennheiser HD 598 SR Open-Back Headphone (https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-SR-Open-Back/dp/B06WRMZZ45/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8). Yes there is a ~$70 difference but if the Sennheisers are that much better I'd buy them instead in a heartbeat!

However, all the reviews for the Sennheisers on Amazon are for the "Without Microphone" model. No reviewer talks about the microphone and I am inclined to believe this is a new feature. So my question is, would I be able to use the mic for gaming or just "calls" as it mentions in the description. Other than that there is no real info about the microphone model.

At the moment I think I'll get the Sennheisers because I can use them away from gaming as well since they aren't an exclusive gaming headset.

But I'd really love to hear if anyone knows about the mic on the chord that comes with them and if they can be used for audio input on my PC for gaming (pretty darn tech-illiterate as you can tell!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

So does the headphone you mentionated has virtual 7.1? Wait, all headphones have 360º sound? So does this one has it too?

http://us.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blasterx-h5

Like I said before, I just want something that is as good or better than my old one, which supposedly has virtual 7.1, which is fine to me, and that is more durable, the only problem I have with yours is that I have to buy separatedly, and I have to use amazon for that, since shops near me dont have it.

My local store has this one:

https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

It is spending 100 euros on that, or going your way and over 170€, and having to deal with online shipping (which will probably had in total at least 20 more euros).

u/Theroach3 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Unless you're looking for superior audio quality, these are probably not what you want. They don't have a mic (or an option for one) and the stock pads are not particularly comfortable. Sound quality is very good for an affordable price and they are relatively travel friendly for over-ear headphones. If those things are important to you, then you can get these and some after-market pads. If you're looking for a gaming headset, I've seen lots of recommendations for the HyperX Cloud II.

u/author124 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Want: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset, because I'm playing games with my long distance boyfriend and also doing voice/video chat and don't have great headphones for it. I'm having a lot of anxieties over money right now though so I don't feel like I can or should get them.

Need: Rapidesign Electro-Logic Symbol Template, because I'm going back to school in January. I meant to get this for a class I was taking last fall, but I ended up failing that class along with most of the ones I was taking, and I'm scared about going back. I should practice what I did learn from the failed class, since I'll have to retake it, but (ironically) I procrastinate on anything related to going back because of my fears about failing again.

Thanks.
Question: Amazon's Customer Q&A section for the Kingston Hyper X Cloud II states the following:
"The virtual 7.1 surround sound is supported through the USB sound card only when used on a computer. The Cloud II is officially supported with the PS4 using the 3.5mm audio jack plugged into the controller. It can be used with the USB sound card but as the PS4 does not have the drivers to run the sound card it will only support pass through sound. When used that way the 7.1, volume and mic control buttons are disabled; only the mic mute switch on the side will work."

Is this correct? In other words, no virtual 7.1 when using the headset with a PS4.

Check this one out. It's pretty decent and has a detachable USB cable and mic. By detachable cable I mean it is cabled but the 3.5mm disconnects from the USB dongle/cable and you can just plug it directly in to your controller.

Solid sound and fit. I used one for a while and passed it on to a friend as I switched to wireless.

Gaming headphones typically won't have a true-ish sound. They are more often then not, tweaked towards a higher treble response for the all-consuming trend of "gotta hear them footsteps!"

If you're looking for a headset (headphone + intergrated mic) you can't get much better than the Sennheiser Game One (open-backed) https://www.amazon.com.au/Sennheiser-FBA_506080-G4ME-ONE-Black/dp/B00JQDOALC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536556094&sr=8-1&keywords=Sennheiser+Game+one

and for closed-back, the GSP300 https://www.amazon.com.au/Sennheiser-GSP-Gaming-Headset-Black/dp/B074T75ZYP/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1536556145&sr=1-2&keywords=gsp+300

u/Moonli9ht · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

Thanks for the in-depth explanation on that.

>Edit: Also virtual surround sound is pretty much a marketing gimmick. All headphones have "surround sound".

I could see that -- from my limited frame of reference, the only headsets I've been able to try in-stores that didn't have "virtual surround" quite literally sounded like "stereo"(?) headsets to me, things were only able to be percieved directly to my left or directly to my right, so I assumed that was the feature I was seeking.

Now that you mention it though, one of the only ones I remember distinctly sounding terrible to me was this pair and I hold that particular headset up as one of the reasons I'd like to avoid gaming headsets (separately from the mic thing). Is there a particular metric I need to be using/looking for instead to narrate that I want a headset to have "directional" sound more than just L/R? I assume "3d space imaging" is a great term for it, but I'm not really seeing it used to describe a headset's details very commonly.

Appreciate the patience.

Hello people, so, my friend recommended me to upgrade to a headphone with standalone mic. I already ordered the mic but now I’m looking for some headphones to go with it. I will use them mainly for gaming but also listening to music and watching some shows. I kind of panic ordered the HyperX Cloud II because I bought the mic but hadn’t chosen the headphones yet so I quickly bought these (I will refund it if you guys recommend something else). After researching some more I got to the Sennheiser HD 598SR or Audio-Technica ATH-AD500X.

Budget - ~€120, I kept increasing my budget because found out my budget didn’t have good quality headphones.

Source - Right into my desktop.

Requirements for Isolation - Is not something I'm worried about.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - No, only on my desktop.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-ear.

Past headphones - Currently I’m using a Logitech G230(Got it for half the price as on the amazon link though). The thing I like about the G230 is that is it over-ear so that is what I’m going for again.

Preferred Music - 80% of my library consists of stuff you find on Monstercat. The other 20% is stuff like this: [1] - [2] - [3] - [4] -

Location - Location is in The Netherlands, so I can still buy from amazon.de if it's not available here.

So right now, my questions are:

  1. Should I refund the Cloud II and get one of the two above?

  2. In case 1., which should I take or is there something else that is better for my needs around or lower than my budget?

  3. Or should I just forget about it and use my current headset and just disable the mic?

    Thank you!

I use the HyperX Cloud II. I like it.

u/Whorsea · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - Around 100 dollars or so, a little higher is fine! Please show me anything though, I imagine my wants are more expensive than my budget.

Source - PC (would also like to use on Android phone, but it makes little difference)

Requirements for Isolation - I would prefer some isolation, so I may still hear what's around me somewhat. I am perfectly fine with any amount though.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Probably not, no. I mostly want these for my home PC.

Preferred Type of Headphone - On-ear? I think. I'm not quite sure what difference that is to full-size. Er, I want them large? Sorry.

Preferred tonal balance - Overall balanced, I suppose. I don't know what a basshead is or anything like that, I know sound like my grandmother knows computers.

Past headphones - I just use the ear buds that come with phones.

Preferred Music - I listen to orchestrated music from vidya games. Stuff like Legend of Zelda's music, I guess? I listen to this quite frequently.

I intend to use these mostly to play games (and just listen to my music), but I'm not very fond of gaming headphones/headsets (they all seem so cheap to me, even the expensive ones). I was originally looking at a gaming headset, the HyperX Cloud II, since it seems to be very comfortable on the ears and have alright sound, but changed my mind after reading in many reviews that it breaks quickly and the mic is awful (I originally wanted a headset rather than headphones, but it seems that it would be more intelligent to just purchase a mic separate and just get a nice pair of headphones). I have sensitive ears but haven't really noticed any differences in sound between things, so as long as it's simply nice sounding, I don't care about details. I mainly just need some plain black headphones that are comfortable for long periods of time (especially since I wear glasses) and sound pretty good, and I would love if they had a good lifespan if taken care of. (Sorry I'm so stupid about headphones and sound terms and all)

u/nav93 · 1 pointr/headphones

This is a question for gamers.

Budget: $100 - fixed

Source: PC primarly, this motherboard if that helps with suggesting any extra stuff, and an android phone.

Isolation: Enough that people about 15 feet away or so aren't bothered by it at moderate sound volume. The only public place I plan to use them are in my university's library.

Using in public?: University library only, not while walking around.

Type: Full sized and closed since I think that will help with isolation.

Tonal preference: I can't say, unfortunately, as I have no experience with more expensive headphones. I'm hoping my music preferences and other use case can help with that.

Past headphones: Nothing worth mentioning. I think pretty much anything would be a step up, but since this is my first expensive set of headphones, I'd like some guidance.

Preferred music: Rock music. I'm not too savvy with genres but from what I can tell, mostly progressive rock (Fair to Midland, Karnivool, Rishloo), and some heavy metal (Black Sabbath and similar commonly known bands).

Improvements from current set-up: I think ultimately anything remotely up there in price is better than what I've ever had.

My intended use is probably a 80-20 split between gaming (80%) (leaning more towards rpgs but I do play some FPS like battlefield 4 and overwatch) and music (20%) but I'd like to try to accommodate those equally in terms of sound quality if possible, sacrificing music quality if necessary. I'll be buying modmic so I'm hoping to get as much as I can out of $100 geared towards sound only.

I was looking towards the HyperX Cloud 2 at first, as they're one of the few recommended gaming headsets that are ok in the sound and voice department but I found the microphone a bit lacking from tests I'd watched/listened to so I decided to just buy a separate mic and buy some good headphones. At present I was looking at the Audio Technica ath-m40x but couldn't find a lot of info from those who use it for gaming. The detachable cable would make it convenient for me to take it around since I could bundle the modmic and one of the long cables and just detach the cable and use a shorter cable for on the go.

Thanks.

if you're willing to increase your budget slightly, I'd highly recommend the HyperX Cloud II headset for £68. I sometimes have issued with headphone comfort and these are great for long sessions, mic is easily detachable when needed, connection can be used with a short AUX (I use this for my PS4) or a longer USB (which I use for PC gaming). The cable is threaded so should last forever.

I've tried his tool, but it doesn't help with findingspecifically wireless headphones.

Here's what I asked on the purchase thread.

Budget - ~$200

Source - PC

Requirements for Isolation - Doesn't matter. Prefer more isolation, but it's not worth spending more to me.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full-ear wireless preferred

Preferred tonal balance - Don't care. Using for gaming, videos, general music, talking, etc.

Past headphones - These
for about 6 months. liked them but gave them to a friend recently. Bought these last week but returned them because the cups weren't deep enough.

Preferred Music - Alternative and electronic music (gaming, videos, talking, etc. as well)

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Would really prefer wireless, but it's not required. Don't need a mic attached (especially because audio quality is usually worse). Would greatly prefer replaceable battery, but also not required. Need to be comfortable enough to use for multiple hours at a time.

Closest thing I've found are these RS 165's, but can't find reviews. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

u/RightclickWarrior · 1 pointr/headphones

Hello.

So, I'm looking to buy headphones, and I was recommended the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset and the HyperX Cloud II. Can anyone who owns one of these pairs of headphones answer my questions?

This is my current pair of headphones. It is really uncomfortable and makes my ears sore easily. It's very unlikely, but if you've owned the same pair of headphones, how do they compare to each other?

How is the leather? Will it break down like bonded leather?

How about the comfort? Does it squeeze on your head a bit? I wear glasses so this is an issue for me.

How much sound does it block? Because my current pair of headphones does not block sound at all. Not really looking for sound-blocking headphones (so I might not consider the second option for its noise blocking features), I just want block out background noises and my loud CPU fan.

And most importantly, the sound quality. The sound quality is important for me because I tend to play a lot of rhythm games and FPS games.

Thanks, and have a great day.

You can't go wrong with these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KK8ZLEC/ref=twister_B00OZP5HG8

They sound great! Better than any of my previous headsets by a lot. Would recommend them as the best option.

They are open back to get a nice sound stage for pin pointing footsteps in FPS games and they have slightly boosted bass but it isn't overpowering it just feels nice.

But if you want insane bass then you probably will not like these.

A second option would be:
http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCVTQ

These are closed and sound very good. Almost as good as the G4ME Ones but for quite a bit cheaper. Bass is still good but not overpowering.

Third option would be:
http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-TR-PC-Headset/dp/B014LH5LH4?ie=UTF8&keywords=astro%20a40&qid=1465469606&ref_=sr_1_1&s=pc&sr=1-1

A lot of people say these sound terrible, but in my experience they sound quite good. I would say the problem most people have is the bass is extremely boosted and has the punchiest bass out of all the headsets I own.

Good luck on getting a nice headset!

Sennheiser GAME ONE Black $130 - back ordered 2-4 weeks

Sennheiser GAME ONE White $150

Kingston HyperX Cloud II - $98

Kingston HyperX Revolver - $108

Astro A40 - $150

Of those I'm partial to the Sennheiser GAME ONE's, and the Astro A40. I've used exclusively Sennheiser headphones for the last 7 years and have loved them. The GAME ONE's are open back though so you will get a little less bass but a more open sounding sound stage. The Sennheisers are also far better for music than anything from Kingston, Razer, Logitech, or SteelSeries. Also in my experience, Sennheiser headphones are always quite comfortable. The mic quality is also very good on the GAME ONE.

The Astro A40's are just really good all around. Good sound quality, good mic quality, good overall build quality. Very solid option around the $150 range.

If it were me buying it, I would go with the Sennheiser GAME ONE, my second choice would definitely be the Astro A40's though. The SteelSeries Siberia 350 hasn't been getting the best reviews from actual users. I don't put as much stock into professional reviews because they never account for longevity of the device and are based more on technical specs than actual real world use.

It really depends on what your priorities are though. If you're concerned more with the sound quality, the Sennheisers or Astro A40's are the way to go. If you're more interested in extra features, some of the other brands like Corsair, Logitech, and SteelSeries will have some other features (like RGB lighting for example).

HyperX Cloud II are my recommendation for closed ear headphones. They're pretty soundproof; I often have to take them off to hear someone talking to me in the same room. They work very well for CS:GO and PUBG and I often hear enemies well before my teammates.

They have USB (7.1 Virtual Surround Sound) and 3.5mm connections.
