I lived next door to Lester for a few years and really miss it. It's a marvelous snowshoe hike in winter, and the waterfalls are on point in the three months per year that water is naturally liquid. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I found Chester a little steeper and challenging because of ice, but season to season might be different. Killer waterfalls in the summer.

Gooseberry is a longer, moderate hike. It's simple to go look at amazing waterfalls and turn around before completing the hike down to the shore. Again it can be icy too.

If you're a permanent resident of Duluth, I strongly recommend a pair of ICEtrekkers Diamond Grip ice chains. Yaktrax were always slippery to us. Those diamond grip chains cut cleanly through any glare ice it came across, no problem. It makes any hike really easy. Pro tip: put a cheap 3" carabiner clip on the back of each (Harbor Freight has them) for more leverage to pull them on and off with gloves on, then clip them together when they're not on boots.
