Don't wash it every time you shower, for starters. Just get it wet and then dry it normally and you'll keep some of the grime intact. Your hair sounds nearly identical to mine and I have the same problem. I wash it every 3-4 days and it helps. I also use Imperial Matte pomade every other day or so, and definitely after a wash and condition.
Thanks, dude! Imperial Matte Pomade + blowdryer + a little hairspray on the edges and back corner to keep em from falling down.
you can go for this haircut by Logic, which is a little short but you could still style them. You can try out the Imperial Matte pomade paste to make your hair a little nicer than it already is. I wrote a review of it here
I've had luck with this product. It's a matte pomade and you can run your fingers through it. Another perk is that it smells great. You can prolly find it cheaper else where online, but I use Amazon for the quick two day shipping.

Good luck, man. Your case honestly doesn't seem that bad but I understand of course that these things are all personal and subjective with ourselves.
