SKINCARE

  • Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System I got this for the brush... I tried the face scrub briefly and it was so abrasive I pitched it immediately. I'm curious about getting a nice Clarisonic compatible with this brush head and I'm also curious about the Foreo silicone brushes but I want to start low end before making a bigger investment... I can always keep the more affordable version in my gym bag or at my boyfriend's place. I like this thing really well! The bristles are flexible but still firm enough to actually exfoliate. It doesn't cause much redness at all, which for me is impressive. It has two speeds and is water proof, just not advisable to submerge fully. It's the perfect addition to my dual cleanse routine... I oil cleanse to loosen makeup, wipe with a flannel, then massage my water based cleanser into my skin before using this brush. I think I'd benefit from one that has a timer to ensure consistency. I've noticed my pores seem cleaner and I don't get breakouts along my hairline or neck, where I think the oil/makeup residue wasn't getting fully lifted off. I've also got drastically less flaking dryness, and my pores appear cleaner and consequently smaller and freer of grits. 10/10 for me. I'll still probably look into the higher end substitutes because I'm obsessed.

  • COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner Toner's are apparently intended to adjust your skin pH post cleanse to prepare it for the next skincare steps. I don't understand that concept in a way that I see its value. I bought a sample of this on the Asian Beauty or Skincare exchange subreddit because I was interested in another AHA/BHA product to exfoliate chemically and prevent breakouts. I LOVE THIS STUFF. A few reviews point to it having an aggressively low pH but I think this product is really to thank for the decreased presence of grits in my larger pores, specifically on my cheeks. I love skincare but the time it takes for creams/essences to dry in and absorb makes me impatient... I love the addition of the AHA/BHA in a thin watery liquid step because it absorbs quickly and I'm onto the next one. Is this necessary? Maybe not. But I'm pretty happy with it.

  • SOO AE Donkey Milk Sleeping Mask THIS IS HOLY GRAIL. It's a thick creamy (rather than gelatinous) sleeping mask. I apply it at night in a silver dollar sized amount, then a nickle sized amount of a morning. You say sleeping mask, I say moisturizer, because my skin is really dry especially with how much I'm outside and all the indoor AC. My skin actually glows and is dewy, which for me is wild. I pick them up 2 for $5 at WalMart, each package lasts me about 3-5 days. I tried the Freeset Donkey Milk 3D Moisture Cream and unsurprisingly it was nowhere near as moisturizing. The Imselene - Donkey Milk Holic Sleeping Mask Pack looks kind of good, may try it out.

  • Can Make Mermaid UV Skin Gel is an awesome SPF. It doesn't dry my skin out or create a white cast that gets trapped in my larger pores which is great. It actually feels slightly moisturizing and although not fragrance-ey, it has a pleasant clean scent. I'm all about this stuff, 10/10.

  • Farmhouse Fresh Body Care The spa I go to uses these products and holy moly am I in love. I bought the Clementine body oil (I prefer the Agave scent, but alas... I can taste the sweet almond oil when I apply it to my skin because of my tree nut allergy), the Bourbon Bubbler scrub (they were out of the Butter Rum scrub which was amazing), the Honey Heel Glaze which is perfect for removing and preventing any calluses, and the Fluffy Bunny cream. I'd like to get the bath bombs and baaaaasically anything else in the line. I love Texas, I love fresh earthy boozey scents, and I love all this stuff. That says a lot, since I morally object to organic products personally. But soft skin is another one of my morals, so I'll make the sacrifice.

  • Cerave Healing Ointment It seriously works wonders on tough calluses, whether getting rid of them or preventing them. It absorbs but doesn't seem to just liquify and melt off like Vaseline does... I bought some for everyone in the house and it's a big hit. Affordable, too.

    MAKEUP

  • Dior Airflash Spray Foundation Holy. Shit. This stuff is a force of nature. The color selection is great, I apply it with a fluffy foundation powder/kabuki brush (rounded or flat) over my Ipkin Radiant Primer and it's the greatest. Doesn't oxidize like the Sephora dupe (which is great... but oxidizes) and it's instantly satin finish... as my skin oils through the day it gets lovely and dewy. I'm so in love. Absolutely worth $60 for me. 147,965/10 approve.

  • Juvia's Place eyeshadow palettes are to die for. I picked up the Saharan Palette a couple weeks ago and love it so much. I just got the Magic Palette and it arrived last night. This thing is beautiful!!! I just saw that the Zulu Palette exists and it's so pretty, I'll probably buy it to round out my collection. I can't lie... a lot of the shades are similar with subtle differences in how warm/cold, vivid/muted they are. I swatched all the palettes on my arm. The shades aren't named, but I organized from elbow to wrist, matte to shimmers/metallics/glitters. These are all brush swatches... like... dude, the intensity is real.

  • Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer "Sheer-To-Medium Coverage, Soft Focus Concealer" is pretty nice. Got it as a Platinum Perk at Ulta. I haven't tried it thoroughly enough to comment, but I used it during Pride weekend for my undereyes and didn't notice any creasing or pilling at all!

  • Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek I looooove this stuff. I got it primarily for blush, as I'm not a subtle lip kind of woman, but it's also perfect for a nice no makeup lip for me! Anyone into lip and cheek tints should check this out for sure. Great pigmentation, lightly hydrating, and lasts really well. Except on the lips, sort of, but that goes with the territory I think. I recommend applying with some kind of fluffy face brush, or a lip sponge.

  • ABH Aurora Glow Kit So I've seen people rave about the ABH glow kits and I never really cared. I was using the Giza and Dahia shadows from my JP Masquerade palette as highlight and calling it done. Then I swatched this at Ulta. Bought it instantly and it is AMAZING. I am so in love. They look super intense in the pan... like who would wear a purple, blue, or green highlighter? On the skin, they are a subtle iridescent glimmer of glory. If you want to go heavy handed, you can pack this stuff on for an outrageous glow if you're so inclined. I love this palette, worth every penny.

    HAIR CARE

  • Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Hair Cream is pretty good stuff, especially for the price. I have wavy hair that gets less wavy the more it reaches my goal length. My hair used to be pretty dry but now that it's so healthy, I'm having a really hard time styling it the way I want. Or at least, getting it to hold the style I want... big volume everywhere with big, tousled waves. I've been putting this stuff on damp hair, french braiding it back to air dry then wrapping it up in a top knot for bed. When I wake up and shake it out it's got lots of body and lift which I'm loving! I did this on Monday and tried curling it today and while it seems to help maintain the volume well, it doesn't help my hair hold curl very well at all. Back to the drawing board here, at least for styled hair. I love this for air dry day to day styling.

  • Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Soft Wave Spray When I shake my hair out I spritz this all over and squeeze it into my hair and it creates great texture. I'm a really big fan.
