My friend raves about her baby wearing group:
https://babywearinginternational.org/chapters/
Basically moms (not sure whether dads go, too) get together and borrow out carriers to test before they buy them. It’s also a nice social network for new parents.

From my experience, we had an Ergobaby, a few Boba wraps, and a Baby Bjorn, but this low-cost one from Target was always the most convenient, maybe because it was so cheap that we left one in each car as a backup to our beefier carriers. And I think the baby actually preferred it because it was more airy. It held pretty solid until she was about 14 months. Then it got uncomfortable to wear because the straps aren’t thickly padded. Definitely great for warm weather though. Infantino Flip 4-in-1 Convertible Carrier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M0DWQYI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yHu5Ab9ZNQSR7

Good luck!

I recommend a simple backpack one like this, meant for infants. The big expensive ones can be nice if you use it when the baby is bigger, but these are so easy to get on one handed and you may not use a carrier as your baby gets older. I thought I'd carry mine forever but he got huge and then walked at 9 months so I had very little need for the bigger carriers.

I used a combination of a "fauxby" for early babywearing, and later switched to the Infantino Flip carrier. Now my little one is maxed out on the weight limit and I'm looking for other options, but under 30lbs I would say these worked good for us!

I don't think strollers are as necessary as a baby carrier. We got this Infantino carrier ($26) and used it WAY more than the stroller for two years for our first daughter and it's still in great shape and we're about to use it for our second daughter as well.

My daughter HATED to be put down anywhere for the first year and I would have gone insane without a carrier. I wore her in it for hiking, doing laundry, cooking, cleaning the house, walking the dog, breastfeeding when I wanted to do something with my hands, basically everything I did.

We did get one stroller but we got a BOB for jogging because I needed that for my me time/sanity. It's a great stroller. Feels light and steers well.

If you're looking at convertible car seats, we currently have the Graco Extend2Fit for our car and the Evenflo Sonus for the grandparents' cars. I think both are great. We had a minor highway accident with my daughter in the Extend2Fit last year and she did not even notice the crash (insurance reimbursed a new car seat afterwards since you are supposed to replace the seat even in minor accidents when it doesn't appear damaged).

Can't enter because I haven't gifted yet but I have a wee almost two month old bean right now and a toddler so I'll drop my must have ideas.

boudreaux's butt paste, the red tube, the hardcore one.

Bassinet on wheels for me is super convenient while my daughter is still basically a potato since we have hardwood I can just push her around the house with me while she sleeps, roll her in the bathroom while I shower, by the sink while I do dishes. Thats a personal me thing though for convenience, would differ for others on what they lay their potato in during the day.

This baby carrier specifically. I've used about seven different kinds from always getting them as gifts, tried moby wraps, the cushy over the shoulder kind, even got gifted a super expensive cushioned one..this is the only one that wasnt bulky, wasn't too complicated to put on, and didn't hurt my back.

Socks, just get so many fucking socks, they lose so many got damn socks.

Same with flannel receiving blankets. You'll think you have enough and you won't..they barf and poop on so many..

Button pajamas are a pain in the ass, go for zippers.

If you need new clothes, yoga pants, tank tops, cardigans, sundresses. You'll consistently look cute as fuck, can mix and match, they'll stretch with you and are actually comfy. Maternity clothes are bullshit, they cost too much and aren't even comfy in my opinion.

If you're going to breastfeed, comfort bras. Just the cheap haines or izod ones. Nursing bras are pricey and baby is gonna barf on em, your boobs will leak on em, youre gonna wanna be able to have something easy to chuck in the wash and throw another one on. Plus nobody wants to wear a full on bra to sleep. They may not have fancy flaps and zippers but I do fine and am plenty comfy just..I guess plopping my boob out the top.

Target diapers are cheap for buying in bulk and work great. They leak less often than even the expensive kind. For newborn and size 1 though I definitely go for huggies just because they're cushy and it's whatever. Huggies wipes are good but if you want a good deal money wise, it's best to just get the big bulk box of wipes from meijer, you earn mperks rewards on baby purchases too.

Anything else besides NEEDS, diapers, food, wipes, burp rags, is just going to pretty much be to personal preference and comfort. You'll definitely end up with stuff you thought you need need needed and in reality youll never touch it or use it. Youll end up with clothes they grow out of before they can wear them. But it's ok, buying baby shit is fun and you'll see as you go. Plus you're allowed to retail therapy like fuck, babies are exciting c:

Thats the one we got, seemed to get good enough reviews and we figured if she liked it we could get a nicer one. apparently this one also doesnt conform to proper hip support guidelines? makes sense.

nice thing is, for 30 bucks i dont even care that its money lost.

I guess regular is the wrong word? A more structured holder. Here's the one we got and I love it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M0DWQYI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZexaCbD81F637

To be clear, this is the one we have: Infantino Flip 4-in-1 Convertible Carrier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M0DWQYI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZlF3CbV8YTKVJ
The snaps in the front are snapped closed and it says “narrow seat 8-15lb” and when the snaps come apart it says “wide seat 15-32lb”

This is the new one we got, no snaps and only wide seating.
