If I'm not too forward to suggest it, I wrote my book Initiative to walk people to unearth their personal interests and create projects for themselves. Most use it to develop entrepreneurial projects, but it works for hobbies and exercise too.
Since /u/CombTheDessert mentioned health, I'm 48 and while my physical potential decreases every year, I can still reach that potential, so one of my big applications of it is my fitness. I've done a lot of burpees, for example, and rowed a marathon this year.
I find that creating goals leads to bigger ones, greater satisfaction on reaching them, more enthusiasm and jumping out of bed on the way, and more to follow.
The environment is huge for me. I find acting on it instead of just reading and debating on it improves my life, for example leading to my second TEDx talk about it last Saturday.
