OP, I'm assuming you have checked to make sure that the mobo can't be updated without a processor? There seems to be a few that can do that.

Also keep in mind that you can get an 1151 processor for about $45.

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80677G3930-Celeron-Desktop-Processors/dp/B01MYTY55V I think this one is Kaby Lake, Is that why you need to update?

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80662G3900-Celeron-2-80Ghz-LGA1151/dp/B01B2PJRPA/ - Skylake

And it might be hard to find someone who would be willing to "rent" out their processor for less than that considering it will probably be a fairly new build and all the trouble an risk involved in taking it out. I would imagine a PC repair place would exceed $40 pretty easily as well.

Then you could sell the celeron for like $30 to someone with the same problem and then this only ends up costing $15.

Thank you, I'll definitely check out the repair store if I can't find one.

One thing I'm a bit confused about is my CPU spec page doesn't say H270, or in fact any chipset, anywhere on the page. How does one tell it's H270 and not Z270 or whatnot? Also the amazon page says this CPU uses DDR3, I'm assuming DDR4 will work right out of the box?

Thanks for all the help btw.
