>so i expect 9900k to be priced minimum 150-180% more than 2700x.

In what country? TPU writes mostly for an US audience.

9900K - $530 on Amazon

2700K - $295 on Amazon

So the price difference is 80% in US, so TPU messed up even in US where the prices are close to MRSP.

In Germany, sure, the prices are inflated but they should drop down to MRSP in 1-2 months.

9900K - €700

2700X - €318

In Germany the difference is 120%.

Works for me. Maybe they're acting off similar info as Newegg, and they're getting multiple thousand units on Friday. Either this is a paper launch... or it it's just delayed a week. We'll know Friday.

You can get a 9900k for $490 with free shipping on amazon. Your asking price may be a bit too high.

Apparently Amazon's chat-based customer support likes to play the same agent shuffle that most telephone CS services do. Anyway, below is the transcript of my conversation with them. I don't know if they received any stock initially, but as of now it seems we're stuck waiting for them to receive stock from Intel.

u/DTGG · 8 pointsr/intel

As much as I thought this launch was bad by Intel and reviews didn't impress me, you're full of shit my dude. First of all LDLC, just like Matériel.net (same owner IIRC) have always been one of if not the worst place to purchase because of their inflated prices. The 1/1/2019 date is obviously a placeholder.

Secondly, oh look the 9900k on amazon.fr. It's not currently being sold by them though.

u/dunnomate · 7 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Not sure why shills are down voting you...

Intel list price for 9900k = $449

AMD list price for 3900x = $499

Anyone can purchase a 9900k from amazon right now for $485, which is cheaper than what the 3900x will drop at.

u/magn2o · 6 pointsr/intel

> but since Amazon is going to sell it at $500

Looks like Amazon is $529.99 now. :(

u/thebirdshallrule · 5 pointsr/Rainbow6

this and this or this

u/scgt1 · 4 pointsr/hardwareswap

Your friend may want to revisit that 9900K pricing. They were selling here for $475 or less. Currently $475 brand new at Newegg with Promo. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117957&ignorebbr=1

Also $480 at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i9-9900K-Desktop-Processor-Unlocked/dp/B005404P9I/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=9900k&qid=1555759276&s=gateway&sr=8-1

$490 has pretty much been the retail sweet spot on these chips for a while now. Prepping for the refresh.

u/Andrew5329 · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

> there is an 8C16T Chip which eats 1/3 less power than the 9900k

Why exactly should I care about this?
I fully appreciate the difference it will make in Laptops where constrained formfactor limits airflow and causes thermal throttling, but it's meaningless in a full sized tower with good airflow or even a microATX with entry level AIO liquid cooling.

(e.g. my OC'd 2700x hits about 60c under torture test. I have plenty of thermal overhead left but can't push the OC higher due to instability)

> while being 400-500Mhz lower than the Intel part

Again meaningless. I don't really care that the IPC under the hood is more efficient to achieve the same result with lower maximum clock. I care that the absolute performance of their product is designed to the exact 9900k plus 1% performance so they can claim "leadership" and price it for $15 more than the Intel Flagship.

If I can OC it to 5 ghz then yes, the 10-15% IPC advantage will be meaningful, but if there's no real overclocking headroom it's not.

>Intel is out of the race for the next few years...

Not really, they're tied for first place. Which is fantastic, and better than it's been in a long long time, but it's not "press F for intel".

Next year we'll see Zen 2+ refresh from AMD with some minor iterative gains, and we'll see 14nm Comet Lake from Intel with... minor iterative gains, and they'll both probably be about the same for absolute performance.

> on par OR better in gaming

Not sure where you're getting "or better" from.

The only benchmarks to date show parity, and those are first-party stage demos which typically need to be taken w/ a lump of salt as best case scenarios.

I'm a composer / VR developer and use the same PC for both pursuits (i7 6700k and a GTX 1080). I use SSDs for storage including a Samsung NVMe for my main Audio drive. I also use a water cooling system to keep overall fan noise down.

With your budget you could afford the i9 9900k. It has 8 cores / 16 threads which is great for large-scale mixing scenarios, while at the same time has a high single-thread speed which is great for VR.

You could also afford either the RTX 2080 or 2080 ti for enjoying the highest quality VR experiences.

You don't really need more than 16 GB of RAM for VR, but if you're editing video you know how important it is for that.

The AMD or the Intel chips?

Intel don't go on sale super often and tend to stick pretty close to msrp.

the numbers listed for the intel chips above are actually all lower than the average prices for the chips over the last while.
9600k, 9700k, 9900k - in the price of the i7 the price in the chart is actually lower than the lowest price on amazon

edit: based on a quick bpcsales seems like the prices may be reflections of the best sales prices over the last month or so, most in the last 4 days - whereas previously they'd not been on sale.

27th is pretty much what all stores are saying online and offline in Japan (I'm in Japan - Just outside of Tokyo).

Here's another popular site to buy PC parts here in Japan that also says for the 27th. https://www.ark-pc.co.jp/i/10150487/

I pre-ordered on Amazon US, but also added it to my cart in Japan when it was up (https://imgur.com/a/MD8qr32) but never checked out here because I thought I would get it cheaper, but more importantly FASTER from the US. The 9900k listing on Amazon JP was taken down quite quickly.

okay, thank you. Does it mean that if motherboard supports my i-5 8400, it will also support i-9? For example, motherboard "Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X". On re-sellers website there is no mention of i-9.
But then there is Intel i-9900k
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i9-9900K-Desktop-Processor-Unlocked/dp/B005404P9I and there is mention of lga1151.
It looks like some lga1151v2 motherboards support i-5, i-7 and i-9 but some only i-5 and i7... Or maybe I'm writing something very wrong. Third possibility - I am wrong and re-seller is lazy to update info on his website

u/JohnMcClane13 · 1 pointr/nvidia

Thanks mate - a very interesting idea!

The difference in AMD vs Intel, price-wise, is not too big. I just checked and

Ryzen 3800x is £365 on Amazon

Intel I9 is £450 on Amazon

I think I can bridge the £90 gap. You advice, nonetheless, is very useful and puts things in perspective.

Check YouTube, there are a lot of really insightful (and entertaining) build guides, jayztwocents and linus tech tips are where I got all I needed to know when I built my first pc :)

A big thing that almost caught me out was part compatibility, some CPUs won't work with some motherboards, you need to make sure 100% that your cpu socket matches the motherboards,

it'll often specify it in both the CPU name and motherboard name. intel is currently lga1151 I think so the CPU will specify that and the motherboards will have it in the name

Intel Core i9-9900K Retail - (1151 etc https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005404P9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_v15PDb54JSZVS

Would only work with a motherboard that is 1151

ITX builds generated by this system assume that you will be using a really small case in which no GPU longer than 20cm will fit. Hence the weirdness, I will do my best to fix it up. If you however remove that limitation, you get something far more reasonable and pretty much identical to your build:

So are you just going to downvote me without explaining how what I said was wrong?

9900K goes for $484 that's like $15 less than the 3900X, which falls under "AMD is selling the 3900X for $499, which is the price (more or less) of the 9900K"

The 12-core 3900X which beat (mind you) the 9920X is going to beat the 8-core 9900K, it's not even in the same ball park. The 9900K's true competitor(In terms of performance) is the 3800X which is CHEAPER than the 9900K.

So please, tell me how I was wrong

Gotcha. I actually ordered mine from B&H this morning at like 1 am since I saw someone post on reddit that the page went live early and luckily the order went through. A tad annoying they won't confirm any kind of shipping date but oh well.

And as far as the elite goes, I think I might go with the Pro instead since it has USB C for an extra $10

edit: amazon will still let you order from this page. You can't find it by just searching 9900k but that page works and it's the same price as B&H was when it was in stock ($530). It was $499 this morning briefly but that was gone in about 5 min
