You could just get some fishing line and tie it to a different stick? Or is the the telescoping that she likes?
The only wand toy I buy anymore is Da' Bird (I have an older version, but they make a retractable one now).
They reasoning is that she's got lots of energy, if you don't direct it to active play a few times a day she'll direct it to something else - which usually ends up being something you won't like.
With feeding just pick a fairly consistent time that's an hour after you get up at least. My cats are adults and I now feed them either right before I leave for work or at 11 am on my days off - but I'll ignore my oldest girl who comes to yell at me until I feed her. My SO gets up before I do mostly, so she's not bugging him because I'm the one who feeds them.
Cats generally follow a schedule: hunt (or play, or be a pest), eat, groom, sleep. If you arrange things to go in your favor it'll help your kitty out a lot :)
