It goes very deep onto the programming language, but it's not really aimed at problem solving.

Into to cs using python is a very expensive book so you may be interested in Amazon UK's offers depending on your currency and delivery rates.

The learning python book would, I think, make a good companion to it.

Since python is the language I'm learning at the moment I chose this book Introduction to Computer Science Using Python. It's a decent book so far. I'm sure if you google "Intro computer science with" and then fill in the language you prefer you'll find something. I originally found another book first but it was written with Ruby in mind so I kinda felt like a German student who accidentally signed up for a French class or something. So I found this book that uses python. This book is written better than the Ruby book too. So yeah if you're into Python check it out. I haven't read any other intro to comp sci books though so I'm not claiming it's the best.
