No light, but…a few things, IMO: a) firstly, it seems almost poetic that Delaney got half-way through the book, the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, as were each of the individual podcasts; b) secondly, it seems beyond anybody else’s ability to render such microscopic analysis of the text from Delaney’s perspective; c) thirdly, Frank wrote a book on the subject and, d) finally—again in my opinion, his final podcast, # 368 ends with a sentiment that—I think—almost ideally captures that image of Joyce he was building to in his project…
Re: Joyce (quoting Episode 368, after 0.14:21): “…and, if literature is ever to teach us anything, this is where Ulysses shows how ordinary and ordinarily mobile life is, and how thrillingly and grippingly it can be rendered into art.”
..so, Job well-done, Frank...R.I.P., and thanks for leaving some work for the rest of us.
