Wow. Yeah, that's a hard niche to fit.
Like you said, aluminum is as prone to wear as plastic. The solution of glass might work, but optical sensors are not good at reading glass- you'd have to go laser (which I don't recommend for competitive FPS)
Extended/large cloth pads are a good choice, but they are a cloth pad. I would recommend any competitive gamer switch to cloth pads, but if you truly prefer hard, I don't imagine you'll much enjoy these.
One idea is the sillicon pads (which are washable, extremely durable, flexible but have very low friction ala hard pads) such as the steelseries dex, razer megasoma 2 or roccat hiro. However, all of these are fairly small, and quite pricy.
another odea is the Zowie G-TF X, which like I stated in another post just a few minutes ago, is quite fast for being a cloth pad, but is still vey much a cloth pad. It's a matter of whether you're willing to make the switch.
The only other thing I know of is theArtisan glass-coated soft pads but I have absolutely zero experience with these, and have never even seen them, so take it with a grain of salt.
Want this mouse pad?
bought it on a whim and did realize how massive it is
35$ shipped?
