I know one of the biggest reasons for the KKK success in Saskatchewan was a general fear of growing catholicism. The idea of nun's teaching protestant children was a big fear. Since there weren't many black immigrants, this wasn't really as big of concern for them. However, it grew fast then died out pretty fast too.

There is also a book that would totally be available at the library.

It discusses membership numbers and mentions that the one organization larger was the main wheat farmers’ association. I don’t have this book taken out right now so can’t give page numbers.

Saskatchewan had a population of 900,000 with Klan membership possibly peaking at around 45000, about 5%. Not as high a peak as in a few Southern states or Indiana had been a bit earlier, but higher than elsewhere. But what distinguished them was that the Klan membership only shot up in 1926-1927, after the numbers had just declined drastically in the US in 1925 due to the very public trial of the Indiana Grand Dragon’s rape and murder of a white woman (of course, mass murder of black people didn’t have the same effect...). The Klan was a rather different organisation in Canada and wasn’t as affected by the scandal but had just really started kicking off. So when Saskatchewan was at its peak, it was particularly high in relative terms.
