I had this same problem and my hairstylist suggested Kevin Murphy- Easy Rider Cream

I’ve been using it for about a month and my hair is loads softer and no frizz. Definitely isn’t heavy and doesn’t add oil to your hair.

I only use about a nickel size amount while my hair is damp. But you can use it on dry hair as well. I apply it about three inches down from my roots to the ends. Bonus - it smells wonderful.

The whole container will probably last me 4-5 months. Maybe more.

here’s a good before/after of my hair.

I legit showed my barber this picture a few months back when I got my last cut. My hair is a bit longer than this. But you want to wash it, dry it (preferably blow dry) and then use a light styling cream. He gave me Easy Rider by Kevin Murphy. I've been blasting Kevin Murphy stuff on this sub recently because I really like his products. They're a bit expensive but they last a long time and work great. You may be able to find them cheaper at a high end salon, that's where I get mine. The Easy Rider cream doesn't offer too much of a hold but it will piece your hair together into flowing locks like this dude while keeping your hair looking natural and clean.

If you're having trouble with achieving the volume on top, I would suggest blow drying your hair once you've washed it, in the opposite direction of your normal hair part. Redirect the hair in the opposite direction and maybe use a bit of some fiber or pomade to style it in that direction. Continue drying your hair and try to almost lay it over in that wrong direction. After you've completely dried your hair and applied your product fully, swoop your hair back to its normal part. BAM! Your hair is confused... you just told it to go the other way for the past 15 mins! It's extremely voluminous and swoopy in the direction you like it! Use the Easy Rider cream to style and slick the sides as needed.

Kevin Murphy Easy Rider has always worked well for me. I put it in, comb or push it back, blow dry for 30-60 seconds, and it looks natural and holds well.

I have this same exact haircut except it flows to the left rather than the right.

I would actually recommend against American Crew Fiber pending on the hair texture. A friend told me to try it out because it can be so fool proof (and it really is at time) but was just too light to actually form the hair I wanted. My thicker hair needed more of a moose than a wax substance. My hairstylist handed me Kevin Murphy Easy Rider and it has worked fantastic so far. Doesn't require a lot to keep the hair perfectly smooth and still for 24 hours.
