I personally learned from a used copy of "Kids Knit! Simple Steps to Nifty Projects" that I bought from BetterWorldBooks (free shipping worldwide, what's not to like?). It has casting on, binding off, a few different stitches, joining in yarn, decreases and increases, and a few fun little projects. Nothing about fixing mistakes, though, but still awesome. It is indeed meant for kids, but I love it and learned quite a bit from it! Here is a link to Amazon UK - only one left! :)
