I think everyone can find solace in the fact that a band would never announce or tease an album via their video guy. On the way to Walmart I pondered to myself, "how funny would it be to live stream this trip?" I actually ended up taking that rope light back - it was too heavy to hang the way I did so I ordered these which I think will work better. It's lighting for a bookshelf. So I first took a plug and wired it to a switch then the switch goes to a female end of the cable (all purchased from Lowes). I mounted the switch on the back of the bookshelf so I can turn the bookshelf on and off. Since the rope lights were too heavy to tape to the top of each shelf with 3M, I got something lighter that actually can be cut up into different lengths. I'll edit this post with pictures when it goes down!

Got that on amazon, then taped it from the bottom corner where the door hinge is, around the top, and across the other side. Left a 1-inch margin between the strip and the glass edge, so its behind the metal bar piece of the detolf (so it doesnt cast a shadow), and plugged it in. It took me all of 10 minutes to measure out and set up, easy as pie.

You can make your own for literally $20. All you need is this and some plastic gutter that costs $6 from Lowes. Then you can spray paint it black, and bam you've got yourself a light of whatever size you want for a planted tank.

They were these ones which I bought from amazon. There was another redditor on this sub which shared it with me :). I think the item was originally on amazon US, but I found the same sku.

They're just LED strip lights! All I did was stick it onto my mirror, cut off the excess, plug some stuff in, and done! I bought this kit from amazon. It used to come with a remote, but it doesn't anymore apparently. :/ you can buy it separately though. this is the remote it previously came with

Hey OP, instead of keeping the info in chat I'll post here so others might be able to use it.
I'm assuming you have no experience splicing wires, soldering, or using heat shrink tubing, so I found some quick connect things you should be able to use.

So, the parts I have here are the LED Strip (marked as 'sections' since you will be cutting it), the L Connectors, the 'Wire Harnesses', the Adapters, and the Wire itself.

I drew up a small diagram here with explanation.

If you, or someone you know would be able to do the stuff mentioned above, this could have a lot less parts by doing aware with the adapters and wire harnesses and just soldering the wire between LED strips.
(Maybe there is a local Makerspace near you that could assist)

Also, instead of the LED strip method, I've seen people with LED bars the run the length of the shelf, and have wires to connect up to another bar. Something like this. (search" LED under cabinet lighting")
If the above diagram seems too difficult, or you're not able to get anyone to assist, then this would be a super easy option for you.

It's actually 3 of these https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Daylight-Waterproof-Accessories-Included/dp/B00MHLIFO8
And it just goes from the hinge side up the wall over the top and then back down just the one strip per case

Okay I just found the link in case you're interested.

If not, I hope you find something you like. I chose them because I have a 60 year old vanity, and wanted something non damaging, but easy.

These are the lights I bought! Super easy to install. There's also a compatible remote in case you can't easily reach the outlet to plug and unplug your lights but I passed on that. I believe it also can control exactly how bright the lights are in case you find they're too bright.

u/Oceslope · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Thanks for the props. As for the lights, I have a set of these in each case. They are just beyond long enough to fit up, over, and down again; so the end needs to be cut off. They also, have remotes that operate on the same frequency.

There are other types available as well, including multicolor or soft white.

Yes, good eye! We used this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MHLIFO8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It can be cut to desired length. We we only put one strip in towards the front but after having all our minerals in there it would be better to have a second in the back. Also the underside of the tape that is adhesive is like a copper look, so we are going to get some white opaque tape to cover it from the outside.

LE 16.4ft 12V Flexible LED Strip Lights, LED Tape, 6000K Daylight White, 300 Units SMD 2835 LEDs, Non Waterproof, LED Ribbon, LED Light Strips, For Home/Kitchen/Car/Bar, Power Adapter Included https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MHLIFO8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nnytybH3EWC4B

I bought this one first, but I didn't care for the bright daylight white lights, so I reordered the same kit with warm white lights. I couldn't find that link though. I used thin wire between the shelves. They're hardly noticeable at all if you work them just right.

u/FanxySkull · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Ok so I was thinking of using the LED strip, then use the T-shape connector and the L-shape connector to connect all the strip together. The T-shape connector will be connect with a cord as well like in the diagram I drew. But I’m a noob and I don’t know if this is possible to make, and what kind of cord or wire should I use in this case? Anyone have any idea or guidance here to help me out?

u/BILGERVTI · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Hehe thank you. I use these with an rf remote

u/BobFaggot1945 · 1 pointr/PlantedTank

What size of tank do you have? I used 3 of these for a 55 gallon tank. It's actually on the side of too much light. I put them in rain gutter like this that I bought from home depot.
