I think you may be misunderstanding what I mean by edit. I'm including taking out crutch words, umms, ahhs, duplicative words spaces in between statements and in some cases entire segments of thought. I also take out overtalk/crosstalk when appropriate and errant bangs, bumps, creeks, moans, sneezes, throat clearing, coughs, etc when I can. I do this because I value my listeners time and often this sculpting of the audio reduces my audience raw consumption time by 10-20%. I also like a highly polished audio product that reducing annoying sounds.
In addition I also process the audio with noise reduction, compression, waveform fixes and establishing a perceived loudness that is acceptable to me throughout the entire product.
Oh - by the way - I also produce a separate video companion that I put up on YouTube.
Finally, I also create outtakes or post credit segments to use after the outro.
As long as you understand that my version of editing includes all that, that I do not hire myself out for podcast production currently (I have a rather well paying day job), that I'm not looking to take on additional work right now, that I'm putting personal pride rather than industry-standard into my product, and that I am assembling a multitrack product then you can judge me on the final product.
